He already had a 10 pt lead. He didn’t need this.Amazing. A senator that puts his constituency over party. Probably why he keeps getting re-elected even though he is further left than 70% of that state.
Reporter to Manchin: Do you think there’s a place for you in the Democratic Party after this?

According to a poll done by the Judicial Crisis Network? If Collins was a no, McConnell was going to offer Manchin to switch parties and have his opponent drop out. This takes care of that and continues to allow Manchin to sit on the fence optically but almost always vote Repub on the big picture. His constituency wanted this and thats what he voted for. Every now and then, a politician gets that its not about what he (or his team) want, but rather what his constituents want. That said, he may have needed it. His opponent would have started running ads all over the place about his not supporting the tax bill or BK and that 10 point lead would have certainly started shrinking.

I edited.According to a poll? No offense intended, but this doesn't make sense to me. Does the poll mean that some number "think" McConnell would do this? Or was there a source in the JCN that had info that McConnell was going to do as stated? I don't get the combination of "a poll" which measures what people think vs. a direct action by the speaker of the house was 'going to do'.
Also, your post also lacks sense. If Collins was a yes (She clearly is), then McConnell was going to get Manchin to switch parties. Then your next sentence says "this takes care of that and continues to allow Manchin to sit on the fence". So is he switching parties or remaining on the fence? You kind of said both in your post.
I edited.
Re-re-Read again.Thank you. Makes more sense now.
So a poll of 'well-informed individuals' believed he would change parties, rather than some inside tip.

Judicial Crisis Network is the largest dark money group involved with this nomination.I guess I'm dense and I promise I'm not intentionally trying to misinterpret. Maybe its a misunderstanding of what the JCN is. But you said a poll which is an opinion measure. So I'm just trying to confirm that the thought of Manchin switching parties is peoples opinion of what might happen vs. actual rumor or statement of something occurring. In either case, I get that it doesn't matter as Collins voted yes. I did just see a separate item that ProgressiveUSA and one other major dem PAC were pulling all campaign funding from Manchin, so maybe he will choose to switch.
What's the largest dark money group on the opposition side?Judicial Crisis Network is the largest dark money group involved with this nomination.
