Mower help

Im looking to purchase a mower for my acre yard. In the near future I will be looking to mow up to 5 yards in my area so I want something built well. I don't want to go crazy spending money something 5k and under. I'm not mechanicaly inclined so I will need a good dealer nearby(Hinton). Thanks for your help!

used to rent those in Edmond occasionally. On one of my last rentals the owner of the rental store told me they were going to quit renting them because they couldn't make any money on them...they were always having to fix them. So, don't know if that is an endorsement and you know how rental equipment is treated. I never had a problem with them and they could plow through about anything at almost any height. You could rent one all day for like $150. You don't see anyone renting out that kind of equipment anywhere anymore.

We have a ferris. It is red though. Well built and has a good suspension.

Before that we had a Kubota. Probably built a little better but it didn't have a suspension and was quite a bit rougher when mowing.

Best advice. Make sure and get a zero turn of some sort.

For long term durability and mowing I'd go with a Kubota diesel but I don't think you can get one at your price point. Damn good mowers.

DYT 4000, think its about 10 years old. first 5 years were pretty smooth, last 3-4 or so its needed repaired a couple times a season. Probably expected at that age.

My craftsman is residential so it wouldn't be as good on hills as the commercial ones. It's not as rough riding, IMO.

Grasshopper but they are expensive and probably more than you need. Great for acreages.

I've had my grasshopper for about 12-14 years. The thing is s beast but they aren't cheap. Mine is a 44" cut, 616 model I think.
Just change the filters and blades regularly.

I went out specifically looking at hustlers today and ended up really liking the scag liberty z. Its their low end model, but really liked it and have yet to find a bad review. Only question is kawasaki 21 hp or kholer 24 3000 series. Same price. Low and wide stance should help my hill issue.

The one I use is probably 12 years old. It's a Tiger Cub commercial model. Kawasaki 19 hp motor. Was on it last week for 4 1/2 hours non stop (pretty typical use for me) and it just keeps on going. You can't go wrong with the Kawasaki motor. I don't know anything about the Liberty Z, but scag is an excellent mower.

I'm gonna pull the trigger on a Liberty Z but I'm still trying to decid on the 36" and 48" cut. I'm currently borrowing a Cub Cadet that I'm not crazy about.

Kawasaki, definitely. My mower Mechanic says that he's getting lots of problems with Kohler engines lately. Go with the larger cut if you can access all your spaces. I sharpen my blades every two weeks!
