Like much in government, politicians make promises usually for votes with little to no intent to enact their promises. Look at all the promises to repeal Obamacare and it's still there.

Trump backed off the tariffs aimed at ZTE because he discovered ZTE imports around $2 billion/year from American companies in order to make their products. If ZTE closed shop those American exports to China, and the jobs they provide to American workers, would go poof into the wind. An unintended consequence of government meddling in the marketplace. In order for that to be true, then there are 2 possibilities: 1) You believe that Trump was out there killing people himself or 2) The violent actions of the protesters were justified in the face of Trump's decision/action. I'm pretty confident that #1 isn't the case, so I went to #2. If you don't believe the violent protests were justified, then how do you blame Trump for the murders, clearly it would be the protesters/terrorists who are at fault, right?
