@davidallen Do you feel hoodwinked?

I bet you supported this program.

So the article states:

"The development was first reported by The Lund Report, an Oregon-based outlet. The outlet had previously cited estimates that there are more than 110,000 illegal immigrants in the state and that the program would cost $100 million in the next two years."

$100M over 2 years works out to less than $500/yr per enrollee. Yet according to medicaid.gov, Oregon pays nearly $11K per enrollee. Your $50M/yr program will actually cost your medicaid budget $2B/yr.

So my real question: If they had told the truth about the program's cost and the obvious impact it will have on the state's budget going forward, would you still support this bill? Do you think most Oregonians would?

All 17 Communists promised tax payer funded health care for illegals in Democrat debates.

And the Dimms try to convince thinking people there are 81 million Americans stupid enough to fall for what we're seeing?

Beijing Biden promised economic stagnation and higher crime rates. So far he is delivering in spades on higher crime rates. Biden pushed Trump's vote total up to 74 million from 2016's 63 million.

Stolen election?

As in many parts of the country, Oregon relies on seasonal workers to sustain its agriculture business. Rather than ignore the healthcare needs of these folks, the state has decided to make them eligible for basic health benefits.

The $200 cost estimate includes $100 million from the general fund and is anticipated to be matched with federal dollars. Just as with other "free healthcare" programs in Oregon, enrollment is capped by the budget allocated - so I have no worries that we would somehow wake up to $2 bln in obligations associated with this expansion of the program.

Overall, Oregon has done a decent job of managing state budgets. On occasion there are efforts/initiatives to add a sales/VAT tax or corporate taxes to tax revenues, I generally think this is a good idea. Like most states, pension costs are a ticking bomb, but some decent headway has been made the last 5 years or so.

Given all that, your question relies on a false premise - no one has withheld "the truth" about anything. Do I feel hoodwinked? No.

Make the employers pay it or take it out of their pay. Problem solved. If that fails maybe some lazy white antifa brats can fill the need of the "Seasonal Workers." You know when they have some free time when they are not breaking windows, assaulting cops and burning down shit.
Nevermind, in Parardise thats a full time job and not seasonal.

A cousin of mine drove through Oregon a few months ago and took a look at the beauty of its landmarks and it is a pretty State but when he got to Portland and took pics to show what that shithole looked like I wasn't really all that surprised. Homeless everywhere and the destruction caused by the Spoiled White Brat Commies. How is that possible in a Socialist State that has a Gestapo that will set shit on fire in the name of Social Injustice?

I used to hang out with the Umatilla Indians where you can gas up your own car. Watch the salmon in the Columbia River. Then there's Portland.

Oregon is the nearest we have to a socialist state. I spent 12 years trying to find an Oregon citizen who could define "civics" for me and name one U. S. Supreme Court Justice. 95% could tell me to whom Brad Pitt was married.

I went and played golf in Oregon in March and after my caddie found out where we were from Oklahoma he opened up a little and it was clear he did not like living there and hated the politics of the state. He talked a ton of trash about what has been going on in Portland.
I'm sure he is making a lot of money and that is what is keeping him there but it was nice to not have to bite my tongue on political talk the entire week.
