Millennial Couple bikes through ISIS territory

I generally have 5 rules in life......first, save as many dogs/cats as possible (how we have ended up with 11 dogs and 3 cats). Second, never cheer for those satan worshipping bastards in Cleveland county. Third, never ever fly on a Tupolev aircraft. Fourth, Married with Children trumps all other viewing options when its on. Lastly, never ever ever visit a country that ends in "STAN."

I should feel sorry for them, but dam how freakin naïve, stupid and sheep like are these two (really four) to think they could pull something like this off. Anyone who sees them as 'martyrs" is a bigger dumb ass then they were.

i read another article about these two earlier this week

this article is slanted and crappy in spite of the correction posted at the bottom of their article

the other article said they were run over and provided a more thorough background on their lives

The article I read yesterday said ran over then stabbed. I don't remember what site it was though.

These people actually thought they were smarter than everyone else. I mean, literally, this couple spent half of their adult lives talking about how smart they were.

I’d guess they were in the middle of another one delittling the common folk when evil appeared. Whoops.

Not sure where you get this impression...

A couple of idealistic young kids got killed. Trying to score points for your POV?

Their blog if you care to see what they were actually saying to the world rather than the crappy post in the OP: http://www.simplycycling.org/

There are some people who never grasp the concept of situational awareness for whatever reason. White US folks riding bikes through Terrorville, Somethingstan was a terrible idea or really bad map reading.
Afghanistan with a little avacado grease on it kind looks like Avacadostan, maybe they thought they were peddling to heaven.

Damn, hope you made it to London

Worked for more than a few days.

Documentary on it called “Grizzly Man”.

That dude was definitely crazy. However, if I remember right he got eaten only after he stayed way later in the season that he typically would have. The first time I watched that I thought it was a Christopher Guest type mockumentary.

He stayed a week longer than he intended to try and find a female bear he was famialr with, instead he ran across and filmed a very hungry grizzly a few hours before his death. Food was scarce in the park on this visit, that and hubris proved to be his downfall.

What were the warning signs other than "Somethingstan"? You buying into the whole "ISIL controlled" territory narrative?

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/07/world/asia/islamic-state-tajikistan-bike-attack.html

“You read the papers and you’re led to believe that the world is a big, scary place,” Mr. Austin wrote. “People, the narrative goes, are not to be trusted. People are bad. People are evil.

“I don’t buy it. Evil is a make-believe concept we’ve invented to deal with the complexities of fellow humans holding values and beliefs and perspectives different than our own … By and large, humans are kind. Self-interested sometimes, myopic sometimes, but kind. Generous and wonderful and kind.”

Wow.
