One of the most disgusting non-violent things I have even seen. Newspapers are colluding to attack the President. On Aug 16th more than 100 newspapers have agreed to print an editorial showing a coordinated response going after Trump.

I have mentioned numerous times I am not a Trump fan, but all this does is prove his point. Journalism is dead.

I think this is pretty tame. The editorials, it seems, will be about one specific aspect of Trump, him attacking the press. Trump does attack the press, no?

I think the 'weaponized comedy' as @NZPoke (or his handlers) put it, is much more blatant in its bias.

Lots of hyperbole. The press has killed their own credibility. Trump just rubs it in.

But Trump has had this coming. Of course he'll use it against the press and point to it as the large media conspiracy against him. And the media will whine about that. It's a circle jerk that will continue until the media learns to ignore him blabbing about them. It's just like posters here responding to ToonTown.

Strongly considering liking this post, if only it was absent the swipe at someone not even posting ITT.

I was intrigued as a 6-7 year old watching the evening news on Vietnam in the evening with my dad. Harry Reasoner and Walter Cronkite delivered the news, the protests and anything else without a "slant". Reality TV type format and shaping opinion is what it's all about now.

Him not posting in this thread yet doesn't make it any less true. He blames everyone but himself for his behavior on here and he's actually correct. If no one engages him, his crap becomes meaningless to anyone but him.

And that's what the media will have to do to Trump. This mass editorial will just give him more ammo. Just stop giving him the satisfaction of getting under the skin of the press and then his rants, if they continue, make him look very stupid.

You should read some of the contemporaneous accounts of the political views of the press... Might challenge your recollection.

IMO, you meant "vicious circle", not "circle jerk".

Circle jerk refers to a group of individuals getting together and making each other feel good as if they are all in an echo chamber. (like often happens on this board).

JMO.

They both apply, especially considering your posted definition of circle jerk. 100+ editorials saying the same thing sounds like a circle jerk that's going to contribute to the vicious circle.

Honest question: Could 100+ media outlets colluding to broadcast the same basic message constitute any type of anti-trust violations?

I know they had them, it's just nonstop all the time today. I've really quit listening and watching for the most part.

Nixon was at war with the media, very much like DJT. That is my point, of course the 24 hour news machine and the predominance of opinion based programming has fundamentally shifted the nature of "news" today as you allude to.

With all due respect, it only pays off for the profiteers when you click. That and spending time in higher quality outlets means you see a lot less of that crap.

I should have worded my comment better. My thoughts on newspapers and magazines today is that technology has made their format as untenable as a typewriter repairman's and that without sensational stories, sound bites and headlines, their demise will be even faster.

The better ones have morphed into digital outlets. I have a customer who has done this quite well, even if I don't agree with all their editorial decisions. They at least have a strong path to relevance in the future, despite certain political types labeling them as failing.
