Anybody else just see that train wreck? We are flipping through channels and she had a lip syncing/wardrobe malfunction on ABC just before midnight eastern. Twitter blowing up about this. I don't know much about her but she basically just walked off the stage pissed. Talked through her "song" with the music playing behind her. May be related to a sound issue vs just drunk diva? Yikes!

Are people so stupid that they don't know that about 80% of these "live" performances are lip-syncs?

I caught the tail end of the Orange Bowl halftime and there's some group, who I have never heard of, prancing around on stage pretending to play their guitars, which aren't even plugged in, with the singer "off" ever so slightly with the lyrics. So obviously lip-synced.... but I guess what does it matter to their fans who appeared to be dominated by 15 yr old girls and who likely don't even care, much less spot the obvious.

Face reality, likely half of these "popular" groups of today release albums which are actually recorded with studio musicians providing the actual "talent" and who "augment" their performances with prerecorded material to cover for their deficiencies as musicians.

True, but in all fairness, studio musicians have been used on most albums for decades. Country is still pretty good about live musicians and vocals for live events.

Sure, the Nashville Cats and the Wrecking Crew (L.A.) are two groups of studio musicians who are known for that. But I was pointing more at the bands who don't play on their own records because they don't have the talent or ability, but who go on tour and "play" concerts using pre-recorded music for the most part to cover for that fact, ala Milli Vanilli. (or who put a group of competent musicians behind them to augment the sound as a CYA maneuver.)

CSB, when I lived in DC the VFW hall in Maryland was open for small shows on weekends and was known as the "Twist & Shout" (as immortalized in the Mary Chapin Carpenter song.) One weekend, I went with a group of friends to see the Nashville Cats in action. I was standing in line and there was a but of a surge from behind and about knocked over the guy standing in front of me. I recovered and sort of grabbed him to stop him from going down and apologized. The guy kind of mutters "Don't worry about it." I didn't really think that much about it, until we get to the door to buy tickets and I finally get a good look at him........ it was Bob Dylan!

I saw a country guy sing live at a Dallas Cowboys halftime event recently and it was awful.

I really don't think it was that he sucked, but the broadcast found mix sure did.

As a musician I roll my eyes at prerecorded vocals but if I were managing an act like that I would insist on it.

Wildfire with Michael Martin Murphy at the halftime of that OSU game was the best ever.

Not to mention emaciated Boone and his looney wife wearing Native American robes with all of those horses and dancers.

I'm still not sure what I was watching all these years later.
