I didn't know much about LePen other than the left hated her, which is a feather in her cap as far as I'm concerned. Macron has seem to grow a pair of balls since Biden was put into the White House. I guess he felt someone had to step up and try to lead the west as even those in the EU know Biden is not up for the task. Interesting tidbit though is that the election ended up being much closer than the 2017 election runoff between the same two candidates. Article I read indicated that this is not a good thing for Macron as it likely reflects a stronger Nationalist party which will have increased parliamentary standings and thus could really limit Macron's effectiveness once the parliamentary elections happen later this year.
