It seems some things are starting to shake out.

125 - Klimara - Seems like he will be fine. Can Miller move up to 133?
133 - appears to be most undecided weight. Harding out of redshirt?
141 - Not sure about the competition but Heil produced. Did Kindig not wrestle because he is working towards 141?
149 - Kindig
157 - Time will tell if Collica can compete for AA but he appears best bet for now.
165 - AMFD
174 - Jordan looked better?
184 - Getting better every day
197 - See 184
HWT - what we were expecting last year

Now for some eye witness reports from those attending.

I just got back from Lindenwood. for the most part I would agree with Orange Bomber on the lineups.

125. Eddie was sold and beat a very good wrestler in the finals. Marlow McGee would start for most teams but of course Alan Waters is at that weight for Missouri. He is extremely quick and strong but in my opinion stalls a lot. When he shoots his 3-4 shots during a match he usually finishes but Eddie was able to control him. Eddie is just back and not yet in mid-season form but he will get much better the more he wrestles.

133 We are weak at this weight and Harding who was in the Freshman/Sophomore division won it and looks solid. I believe we will pull him out of redshirt this year. He will take his lumps for a while but he is good and will only get better. He is a small 133 pounder but is strong and he beat an excellent highly recruited 125 pounder in Albers in the finals.

141 Dean Heil looked very good and he had some good competition particularly in Logan and Grogan from Iowa and he handled both very easily. He is not small for this weight and no wonder he was having trouble pulling to 133.

149 Kindig did not show and we heard some indication that he might have a minor injury but nothing too serious. In the Freshman/Soph division Jonce Blaylock won this weight and he will wrestle fort us sometime in the future. I have been impressed with his aggressiveness and his skill set. He needs to add strength to a very good wrestling base.

157 Anthony Collica is the best of a strong bunch of OSU wrestlers at this weight. He will start all year. He got defeated by a ranked and unusually large 157 pounder last week but he is much bigger and will grow into this weight and possibly drop to 149 next year after Kindig leaves.

165. Alex Dierenger-Pound for Pound the best wrestler in the country. As Mr. Earl said he makes it look easy. Chandler Rogers looked very good pinning all of his opponents until the finals and he will be a star in the future but just not ready strength wise for Alex at this point.

174. Both of our wrestlers were leading Alex Meyer from Iowa but Meyer has a huge gas tank and he was able to come back and beat both. Rogers had a 7-1 lead when all of a sudden the air went out of his balloon and it is hard to tell why. He looked to be the much better wrestler for over three minutes and then he could not fend off any takedown attempts by Meyer. This weight to be decided later but has to be a major disappointment both to the two wrestlers and to the coaches.

184 Nolan Boyd looked solid and much better than last year and while it was not NCAA tournament caliber opponents several were good and Nathan Marek in the finals will be a star at OU and has already beaten their starter in his freshman career.

197 Austin Schafer is and was dominant and his strength is obviously the top position on the mat where he looked unbeatable. He is a is very conditioned athlete and will only get better.

285. Austin Marsden weighed in at 273 and this is 10-12 pounds more than last year but looked in better shape and quicker. He will be a contender for #1 at heavyweight.

My opinion is Harding should wrestle 33 because he is the best we have and to be honest we have Piccinini and Brock coming in next year and after a redshirt whichever of these 2 goes 33 (Probably Kaid) I could see beating Harding so why not wrestle this year. In the finals Rogers got a slick takedown and then headlocked for a bunch of points. At the end of the 2nd period and the whole 3rd he was taken down at will. He looked like a new wrestler who couldn't defend his legs if his life depended on it. I only saw a little bit of the semi finals for him because there were lots of cowboy matches going on. I did see Jordan get spladled after he had a big lead. So obviously he can score and give up lots of points also. He looks pretty thin at 74. Marsteller looks to me like he is at his weight but lacks desire and aggressiveness in his matches against quality opponents. He seems to be struggling mentally and I have read that he has family problems. Adjusting to being in Oklahoma could be hard. I hope he finds himself because he does not seem to be anywhere near the wrestler he was in high school. I don't believe it is because the competition is so much greater either, I think the difference is his struggles and if he really wants to wrestle.

Using that lineup, how do we matchup with Minnesota next weekend?

125 Klimara vs Brancale Eddie slight favorite?

133 Garcia vs Dardanes Think Garcia gets the nod here, don't think Harding would have wrestled black division if John was goinng to pull the redshirt.....Dardanes with bonus?

141 Heil vsDardanes Encouraging result at Lindenwood but Dardanes is too much

149 Kindig vs Lange Kindig should be a heavy favorite, can he match bonus points?

157 Collica vs Ness Scary match for Collica

165 Dieringer vs Wanzek No doubt, by how much?

174 Rogers vs Storley Another scary match for the good guys

184 Boyd vs Pfarr know nothing about Pfarr but he's ranked and these are the kind of matches that Nolan NEEDS to win

197 Schafer vs Schiller Can we keep it close?

285 Marsden vs Kroells Austin should also be a heavy favorite

IMO we're favored at 125, 149, 165, and heavyweight, if Boyd can pull out a victory this dual looks a little closer than it did a week ago

JUST A FEW RANDOM NOTES WHILE MY KEYBOARD CAP IS STUCK.

GARY WAYNE HARDING'S MATCH AGAINST JOSH ALBERS IN THE FINALS WAS A MATCHUP OF TWO HIGHLY RECRUITED WRESTLERS. JOSH ALBERS IS THE ONLY 4X ILLINOIS STATE CHAMPION IN THE 77 YEAR HISTORY OF THE TOURNAMENT TO HAVE AN UNDEFEATED HIGHSCHOOL CAREER. HE WAS 171-0 GOING INTO THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND HE WON HIS FOURTH STATE TITLE. HE WAS FROM A SMALL CLASS IN ILLINOIS BUT WRESTLED ALL OF THE BIG ONES AND HE DEFEATED JERED CORTEZ OF ILLINOIS HIS SENIOR YEAR. gARY WAYNE DECISIONED ALBERS 5-1 IN THE FINALS IN WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN (DID NOT CHECK) HIS FIRST LOSS IN HIS CAREER. HE WAS A PRIZED RECRUIT FOR UNI.

JONCE BLAYLOCK WON THE 149 TITLE IN THE FR/SOP DIVISION OVER TANNER BAILEY OF OUCHITA BAPTIST. BAILEY, OF COURSE IS THE BROTHER OF DALLAS SON OF LEO BAILEY.

DEAN HEIL DEFEATED BOTH OF IOWA'S RECRUITS BY DEC. LOGAN RYAN IN THE SEMIS 8-1 AND THEN MAJOR DEC. SETH GROSS 12-4.

HESTIN LAMONS ADDED TO THE OVERALL INCREDIBLE DEPTH AT 157 WRESTLING HIS FIRST MATCHES DUE TO EARLIER GETTING OVER INJURIES AND CAME IN SECOND IN THE FR/SO DIVISION. HE WON HIS FIRST FOUR MATCHES BEFORE LOSING IN THE FINALS 7-5.

FOR THE THIRD OR FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW HARLEY AND I HAVE ATTENDED LINDENWOOD TOURNAMENT AND HAVE NEVER MET. I WANT TO KNOW 'WHO IS THAT MASKED MAN'?

"184 Boyd vs Pfarr know nothing about Pfarr but he's ranked and these are the kind of matches that Nolan NEEDS to win"

I watched Pfarr (on-line) this year and he goes 100% non-stop.

I have a question on your comment about Kilmara. What does " Seems like he will be fine" mean? It isn't like he was injured. He got caught with cocaine in his pocket in a bar during Nationals in OKCity. Then he was suspended when there were no more meets during the off season and reinstated when the season started this year. What is there for him not to be fine about?

Are you sure that's what happened? Yes, that is what was reported...but there is a reason judge's don't prosecute based off headlines/media reports.

He will be fine from his layoff from Wrestling...no more, no less.

Stating that this prediction is for this match only, and not an indication of any matches that may be wrestled at the end of the season:

125 Klimara vs Brancale Brancale

133 Harding/whomever vs Dardanes Dardanes

141 Heil vs Dardanes. Dardanes

149 Kindig vs Lange Kindig

157 Collica vs Ness Ness

165 Dieringer vs Wanzek Dieringer

174 Rogers vs Storley Storley

184 Boyd vs Pfarr Boyd

197 Schafer vs Schiller Schiller

285 Marsden vs Kroells. Marsden

Not predicting bonus points, but I think it's 6-4, Minnesota.

Looks pretty good. At 125 Klimara will be the favorite if he is back to last years form. 149 will be Short not Lange, Kindig will be the favorite either way although I wouldn't expect bonus. Also I don't know a lot about Boyd, but Pfarr is a handful. It should be a tight dual, but I expect my Gophers to win a tight one.

Subject:

The media report that I read was information that a police officer put in a arrest report. It's not like the media was making this up to have something to write about.

Pollard had it right. No intent was meant other than it looks like he will be at that weight and will be fine. Obviously everyone doesn't stay at their previous weight, especially the lower weights.

WEH8, I see you asked mike about Klimara on HR and you have brought it up here as well. I will answer your question here as opposed to there. You asked if mike thought EK should be wrestling like nothing happened. I don't know what happened between EK, coach smith and the team, but neither do you. I think it would be a mistake to assume everything is going forward like nothing happened. He made a mistake and I am sure he has paid for it other than the embarrassment he brought upon himself. since this happened at the very end of the season makes it a unique situation. Just let it go.

April just posted on it over there, I told them a little about Eddie and what kind of young man he is. Most of us has been in his shoes or got lucky and wasn't caught. I posted just before you did over here. Thanks for the backup April.

April, that was well put.

Against Minny I would think that the OSU staff will have Collica well versed to stay out of Ness's dynamic moves and ready to play the takedown let him go game that was OSU's signature during the Myron Roderick days. Of course being ready and making it happen are very different.

"184 Boyd vs Pfarr know nothing about Pfarr but he's ranked and these are the kind of matches that Nolan NEEDS to win"

I also knew nothing about Pfarr but it appears he is a very good wrestler. He is ranked 16th by AWN while Boyd is not ranked. Looks like he finished second in the FILA Junior Worlds. He has beaten Gabe Dean and Bo Nickal. Looks like he is 7-1 on the year with his only loss in the Bison Open finals to 19th ranked Hayden Zillmer of North Dakota State.

All but one of his wins has been of the bonus point variety. His loss was in sudden victory.

I would give Pfarr the definite edge on his home mat.

And here's this exact dual comparison. Some guys have switched weights (according to WrestleStat)

OSU vs Minnie

And here's this one. Different from the previous because of 133...

OSU vs Minnie

This dual gives many wrestlers a chance to move up in the rankings. Heil has a real opportunity to show he is all American material this year. Collica has a tremendous challenge but he needs to wrestle very smart and not get funked. Crutchmer or Rogers have a great opportunity. If Boyd is going to move up he has a chance to beat a ranked wrestler who is beatable for Boyd. Schaefer has to be smart on his feet and wrestle great on top. Need Klimara, Kindig, Dieringer and Marsden to win matches they are favored in and get 1 or 2 upsets to win this dual.
