Heard an older liberal talking the difference and I thought I'd throw a few out and our liberal and leftist friends could put in their thoughts.

Liberals believe in integration. One race, color blind society. Leftists promote segregation. MLK would role in his grave at the idea of separate dorms or even schools for people of "color".

Liberals believe capitalism is the economic engine to lift people out of poverty. Leftists want socialism.

Liberals beieve in free speech in order to speak truth to power even if that speach is offensive. Leftists want speach they don't like banned.

Liberals believe in truth, justice and the American way. Leftists renounce America and want a world government with open borders.

I grew up being "color blind." I grew up believing men and women were equals in society even though they have biological differences. I grew up believing that someone's sexuality has no bearing on anything I do, so would I oppose things like same sex marriage.

Highlighting differences in race, gender, and sexuality are paramount to grievance politics. In grievance politics, these things are very important to so that people can be mobilized against what they are told is the root of all perceived oppression, the white straight male. You can't effectively mobilize people in grievance politics unless you can get people to compare themselves to white straight males. They demand unequal treatment as a means to attract voters.

Leftists want illegal immigration to occur in large numbers so they can obtain more power. More population equals more proportion of the population and more of the 435 House seats. Since House seats are based solely on population, counting illegals boosts population numbers. This is their work around to voting laws and what drives sanctuary city policies and "catch and release." That's why they are against adding the citizenship question back into the census. That's also why they screech about the electoral college and the Senate. Leftists are authoritarian and will use any means necessary to get and maintain power and control over people. They hate individual liberty unless it conforms to their beliefs, hence their comparison to communist regimes.

I conflated liberal and leftist forever until it was explained by liberal and I think this what happens on here.

Liberals are for larger government but not for the same reason as leftists.

Leftists have taken over the Democrat party and a large part of our educational and judicial sytems.
