I know this topic may elicit some snide remarks but we have covered all of the major contenders for the Big 12 this year as we talked about Baylor, TCU, OSU, and uo. We also covered a little on TT. Not much talk about texas around here(other than the Wick law suit and the LHN).

texas returns 7 starters on offense but loses their leading rusher and 2 leading receivers. They were next to last in scoring offense in the Big 12 last year. As we all know, they have struggled at QB for several years now. They have returning starter Swoopes coming back but I think the RS Fr from Denton Guyer will be the guy by the start of the season. Heard is a more natural passer and a better decision maker in the spread offense. They have 4 starters back in the OL. I see them as being improved on this side of the ball but not Big 12 championship caliber.

On defense, they only return 4 starters but several quality backups. Still, they lose 6 of their top 7 tacklers. Of course, the guys they will plug in are mostly 4 star athletes so they have a chance to be pretty good. The problem is they were the Big 12 best scoring defense last year and I don't think they can repeat that. I still see them being a 5th or 6th place team. If so, the heat will start to build on Strong.
