STILLWATER – The 153 campers in the Cowboys morning session on Sunday for the final day of mini-camps this summer were lining up to perfect their form in running 40-yard sprints. Down in the end zone Oklahoma State’s tight ends and fullbacks coach Jason McEndoo was talking with possibly the best looking player in the building. Billings (West), Mont. tight end prospect Matt Ludwig was listening to McEndoo along with his sister and his mother. The 6-4, 235 pound Ludwig is wrapping up a summer that has taken him to Knoxville, Tenn; Lincoln, Neb; Stillwater, Okla; and some other college football towns as well.

This was Ludwig’s final day in Stillwater as part of an unofficial visit for the junior to be and member of the 2026 recruiting class. Ludwig nicknamed “Moose” and he plays with the physicality and athleticism you would expect with the nickname has found a connection along with his family to McEndoo, another northwesterner by birth. Ludwig has become a multi-sport standout at Billings West High School and last season he helped them to a 6-5 season with a 28-10 win over Big Sky in the playoffs before the Golden Bears lost to Capitol High School 28-6.
Ludwig finished the season with 36 receptions for 441-yards and five touchdowns. He also had 24 carries for 204-yards and a touchdown. He had 29 tackles and three tackles-for-loss on defense. All those numbers as a sophomore.
The offers came pouring in with Oregon State, Michigan State, Central Michigan, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Arkansas, Tennessee, Boise State, Washington, Indiana, Penn State, Georgia, California, Stanford, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida, Louisville, and Boston College.
He has plenty of time to decide, but the relationship building with Oklahoma State and McEndoo was helped by the fact that McEndoo was at Montana State for 12-years and is originally from Aberdeen, Wash. and went to school at Washington State. McEndoo knows much of that region and grew up in that area and is able to relate to Ludwig and his family.
We can only go off observation, but it did seem that McEndoo and the Ludwigs had established a very comfortable reglationship. The fact that this is the last weekend that recruits will be able to go on campus until the game starts at the end of August does show a sincere interest by Ludwig in Oklahoma State.
