From a forty plus year season ticket holder responding to a Cowboy friend’s question about what’s going on.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. From Pre-season NIT until now. Really bizarre.
I’ve been a huge Boynton fan from the beginning. Got to play rounds of golf with him two years in a row. He doesn’t play but he rode around with us. His impressive wife rode with us the first year. Couldn’t have been more impressed. Really smart. Confident but humble. Just a special guy.
Didn’t like some of the schemes on defense but he beat KU what twice? With inferior talent. So, I didn’t worry much.
But your comment the other day about the offense was correct. Don’t really set picks. Not sure what they’re doing. Yor and Lindy have tanked. DZ is DZ, just a role player. McGriff has never developed into what he needs to be. And our point guard has no shot.
On defense, we double on the ball and consequently leave shooters wide open and the back door open as well. Over and over.
Every team we play is much bigger and stronger than us physically and has players who can get open and make shots. The differences are stark.
I like AA and the Boones and I even think Rossink can be a player but it’s all going to take some time. Painfully. People are sick of losing. And now losing embarrassingly.
We’ve had so many busts and so much attrition. The squad is so unbalanced. Some is Mike’s fault and some is bad luck which every Cowboy sport seems to have in spades.
It does appear to me (I can’t confirm) that Mike wants to run the show and doesn’t solicit advice from his Assistants including Scott. I believe Holder must step in and get Mike to change this or else.
It’s really bad now but I’d hate to can him and not get Cade to see what that does for the program. And, maybe if he goes “young” for the rest of the year, those guys plus Cade will turn things around.
Really perplexing and getting intolerably old fast.
