Canceled DIRECTV as of Feb 2. I hear all this Firestick talk but don't know if that's what I should do. I don't have Netflix at the moment.

Wife likes The Royals, This is Us, Scandal, Grays Anatomy. I'm hoping I can get those on Netflix.

Any advice from some of you who've done this would be appreciated.

Do you have a smart TV? Some of the networks allow you to watch recent episodes through their apps or cast them with chrome cast or firestorm. Roku has a bunch of apps

can you get local channels over the air?

If you can do that just get PSvue and go from there. You may want to add Hulu and or Netflix but PSVue is like $45 a month. If you like you can take a look at slingTV

My bro in law has a Roku Firestick with an antenna for local channels and says he's pretty happy with it.

I'm leaning toward that setup

One more month of Directv and then I am free. Already have an antenna with a Roku. Longtime Netflix subscriber and I plan to give Sling a tryout.

Same. I'm going antenna and roku. Any tips or advice? I'm also looking at Netflix

But you have to have a cable subscription.

Just got a Roku for Xmas. Want to cut the cord but that stupid DVR has me by the short hairs. That's the only thing my wife wants is a DVR.

What's Playstation Vue and how exactly does it work? That's one of the apps on there and I've heard good things about it but don't know a thing about it. I'm getting old and these talking boxes scare me now.

Thanks Thor, looks good. How do you all watch OSU basketball games that are on Fox Sports OK?

I just recently switched to Vue after a trial of Vue and Sling. Both had the channels we were looking for but Vue has a cloud-based DVR so that pushed it ahead of Sling. DirecTV Now only allows two streams at the same time so that wouldn't work for us, plus, no DVR.

With Sling it appears you can only stream one ESPN channel at the same time, and 4 channels in total. Is that true?

@ThorOdinson13 how many streams at once can you get an Vue? Can I watch ESPN in the front room while the wife watches Bravo in the back.

I cancelled my Dish today. They added a "local channel" fee of $10 when they have a local channel blocked out. The guy tried to explain to me his goal was to save me money by charging me more. I lost it.

Supposedly 5. Not sure if you're restricted to one ESPN at a time like sling.

I don't know a ton about Vue. I was on Sling before we moved. If I ever get good enough net I'll be going to Vue for sure though. As said above it looks like you can stream on five devices at a time. So yes, you could have your ESPN while Ms. Tater has Bravo in the back. Vue plus an antenna for local channels and you should be good to go. Oh, and Vue has cloud DVR as well. Apparently not all channels allow it though.

Still getting used to streaming tv, but after three weeks on Vue, I think we're going to be just fine. Couple that with a Hulu sub and our OTA antenna, I think we still have access to just about everything we did before.

We just started a trial of Vue yesterday. Fox Sports OK isn't on the guide, but you can watch it on the Fox Sports Go app if you have a Fire Stick or anything else that supports the app.

Does anyone know what the best antenna for the money is? Need it for local Fox NFL games next year.

Directv now had a $35/mo promotion going for 80ish channels. It has all espns and Fox Sports. Added HBO for $5.

Only thing I don't have is the networks. Will only miss for ABC games and NFL.

Well, Vue passed the Super Bowl test. I was very curious how it would handle the load of so many "vue"ers, but didn't have any buffering, or pixelating. I don't know if that was more to do with my local internet provider, Vue, or both. Either way, I was satisfied with the performance.
