96kg Kyle Snyder vs. Kaouslidis , Cypress.
Freestyle matches start tomorrow with the above and the rest wrestle on Sunday.

They are wrestling live now on Fila.
50 kg Moody pinned his opponent in 1st round and then suffered a tf 8-21 in a semi final match so he is in the repechage.
60 kg Joey McKenna has a 10-2 and 6-2 decision in this first two matches.
74kg Valencia has two tech falls 11-0 against the European champion and 10-0 against Australia.
96kg Kyle Snyder has a 12-1 tech fall and a 9-2 decision.

Moody has the only loss for the U.S. of the day.

Just watched Kyle Snyder tf 10-0 his Bulgarian opponent but it was a repechage match so obviously he lost his 3rd match of the day which I did not see.

Snyder lost earlier to Gogaev of Russia by dec. 8-1. He will be wrestling for the Bronze. Jabari Moody at 50kg is wrestling for the Bronze. At 60kg Joey McKenna has 4 victories, 10-2,6-2,10-0 tf and fall and is in the championship match. Valencia lost by fall in his last match after winning his first two.We have two going for Bronze and one for Gold. Not sure about Valencia as they had not posted if his last opponent won or lost in the next round.

Gold and Bronze medal matches are at 11AM Oklahoma time and can be watched for free on Fila.

The U.S. wrestles Iran in all three of its medal matches.
50kg Jabari Moodi vs. Sharestani, Iran
60 kg Joey McKenna vs. Sadeghikoukandeh, Iran
96kg Kyle Snyder vs. Jamshidi, Iran

The finals at 50kg was exciting with the Russian winning 10-5 over the wrestler from Uzbekistan who had t-falled Moody. These two are in another league. Even the loser looked good and at one point trailed the Russian 10-1. I do not think we have anyone in the U.S. that could beat the Russian in any style IMO. He is just that good.

McKenna loses 0-8 to the Iranian. The match was a little closer than the score would indicate and the Iranian had a 4 point takedown as time ran out. McKenna made most of the shots but could not penetrate a very strong defense by the Iranian. If it is possible to look good in losing by 8 McKenna did that. The Iranian was a bull.

Kyle Snyder takes Bronze 7-1 over the Iranian. We finish the first day with a Silver and a Bronze out of the four weights.

Day II matchups

55 kg Tomas Gilman vs. Kherbache-Algeria
66kg Aaron Pico vs. Daichie Takatani Japan (Cadet World Bronze)
84kg Gabe Dean vs. Mhudayyev TKM
120 kg Adam Coon vs. qian Tao China

Just started watching and so far I have seen two matches. Gilman won his second round match against Tunisia 10-0 tf and Gabe Dean won against Latvia 12-1 tf.

Gilman wins his 55kg quarter final match over the Iranian 4-4 (crit.) and is in the semis. Gabe Dean was losing his 1/4 final match 6-7 with about 40 seconds left and the screen went blank.

Aaron Pico won his first match at 66kg 6-5 in a very close match, hanging on in the end. His opponent was Takatani of Japan and announcer indicated the winner of that match should advance to the finals. Takatani was 5-0 in the senior world cup for Japan according to the announcer.

The U.S. has two wrestlers in the semis. Thomas Gilman will wrestle Hasan-Zada of Azerbaijan and Aaron Pico will wrestle Georgie of Bulgaria. I believe Adam Coon is still undefeated at Heavyweight.

Pico wins his semi 11-0 tech fall. Gilman loses 2-5 and Adam Coon wins his quarter final match by fall to advance to the Semis.

Gabe Dean wins his repechage match by 14-3 tech fall. We have one wrestler in the finals at 66kg with Aaron Pico and Dean, Coon and Gilman are in the wrestlebacks.

Finals start at 11AM Oklahoma time and can be watched either on flo or fila. Aaron Pico is going for Gold and the others are going for bronze.

Finals matchups at 11AM:

55kg Thomas Gilman vs. Kurdin, Kazikstan (Bronze Medal match)
66kg Aaron Pico vs. Yazdanicharati Iran (Gold Medal match)
84kg Gabe Dean vs. Gadzhiyev,Azerbaijan (Bronze Medal match)
120kg Adam Coon vs. Dede, Turkey (Bronze medal match)

Team standings prior to the finals are as follows:

1. Iran 32
2. Russia 28
3. U.S. 25
3. Turkey 25
5. Azerbaijan 20
6. Belarus 12
7.Ukraine 12
8. France 10
9. Uzbekistan 9
10. Romania 9

Upon further review it appears that these team scores were after the first day of competition as no points have yet been awarded for any team in the four weights wrestled today. We should fare well however as all four of our wrestlers are going for medals.

Iran, it would appear is going to win the team race as they have two in the Gold medal match and one in the Bronze Medal match. They were already ahead of Russia by 4 after the first day. Russia has one in the Gold and one in the Bronze. The US has one in the Gold and three in the Bronze so we may gain some here.

Musings before the finals start at 11AM. If you go to the Fila website and click on an individual wrestler in the Juniors one of the categories is sex. For instance click on Thomas Gilman or G. Thomas as they have him listed and in the sex category he is shown as a Mr. I have not checked through the entire listings for the men's Juniors but I would almost bet that everyone is listed as a Mr. It would be huge news if not.

I thought so too letsgo but I just checked the official fila site about 10 minutes ago and they show no team scores for today's matches for any team.

Gabe Dean wins Bronze by Injury default so with Adam Coon left to wrestle we have two bronze medals and a silver.

Adam Coon wins Bronze by fall. Updated scoring I assume going into heavy weight matches shows:

1. Russia 46
1. Iran 46
3. US 42
4. Turkey 34

Iran is wrestling for Bronze o the other side at heavyweight and leading 4-0 when I came here to post so no gain on Iran there if they win however Russia has no medalist at heavy weight so we will gain on Russia but I do not know the scoring. We will finish either 2nd or third. Congrats to the U.S. team for their medals and high placing.

I am fairly certain we will finish second to Iran as the only weight not showing any updated points is heavyweight and we won by fall and Russia was not in a medal match.

My last post of the day after the bronze medal matches at heavyweight. They are still not showing any scores at heavyweight as the finals match is now being wrestled and Iran has 56 points, U.S. has 50 points and Russia 49 points and since Coon pinned or tech-falled all of his opponents but one and since the Russians have no medalist at Heavyweight WE
WILL TAKE SECOND. Great showing by all US wrestlers.
