Who is he? Trumps lead lawyer in the investigation.

Good thing he hired the crazy conspiracy theory guy a few days ago.

Gonna be hard to spin this one.

It's John Dowd. And it's well known that Dowd and other members of that legal team haven't been on the same page, namely the topic of Trump giving testimony to Mueller's team. This doesn't need any spin and it isn't gauge moving other than probably solidifying thst Trump isn't going to fire Mueller.

What if Dowd is right about a lot of things. I highly doubt it’d be Cohen or digenova who’d tell him to keep quiet and not tweet.

Lead counsel publicly resigning in the middle of a high stakes inquiry/investigation is always gauge moving and rarely in a good way, IMO.

"Dowd, who began leading Trump’s legal team last summer, has repeatedly floated the idea of resigning and ultimately decided to step down due to concerns that Trump was ignoring his advice.

Dowd’s departure was the result of a disagreement with the president over legal strategy; Trump wanted to sit for an interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller while Dowd believed the move was ill-advised.

The disagreement, among other developments, reportedly led the president to lose confidence in Dowd’s ability to manage his defense, prompting a mutual agreement that he should resign.

Dowd refused to comment on his departure, other than to say, “I love the president and wish him well.”

Jay Sekulow, a spokesman for the legal team, told the Washington Post, “John has been a valuable part of the team and a friend and we will continue to cooperate fully with the special counsel.”

The move comes just three days after Trump asked Joseph diGenova to join his legal team. The addition of diGenova, who developed a reputation for defending the president aggressively on cable news, reportedly didn’t sit well with some other team members.

Dowd called on the Department of Justice Saturday to shut down Mueller’s investigation, arguing the probe was irretrievably “corrupted” by political bias.

“I pray that Acting Attorney General Rosenstein will follow the brilliant and courageous example of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russia Collusion investigation [sic] manufactured by McCabe’s boss James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt Dossier,” Dowd said in an emailed statement.

I don't know who is "right," but I think Trump should have to give testimony to Mueller and don't agree with Dowd publicly calling for an end to the "manufactured" probe.

And I don't think the POTUS should need handlers to keep him from completely self imploding. If he's a tweet or testimony away from disaster, then it is what it is. Shit or get off the toilet.

Ted Olsen wont' represent him, either. I'm sure this is more brilliant 4D chess.

Is this the guy with the handlebar moustache?

I kind of think that there's gonna be some interdasting board dynamics by the time Mr. Mueller is finished.

And yet here we are. We knew he was a dummy when we elected him; it's what we wanted, and being a dummy shouldn't be an impeachable offense. If Mueller can't make a case without tricking the president into lying, then the case isn't worth making.

No, the guy with the handlebar moustache is Ty Cobb. He is part of the internal White House Counsel Team.

Dowd was private counsel to Trump in his individual capacity rather than official capacity.

Funny gif, but Having lead counsel resign in the middle of an investigation as big as this one is a SURE sign of success...always....said no one....ever.
well, that was until the trumper came along. it's magical....

John Dowd suggests shutting down Mueller investigation. The left and MSM lose their minds and say Trump is going to fire Mueller and Trump will be impeached.

Trump says Mueller will not be fired, John Dowd resigns and the left and MSM lose their minds and claim Dowd leaving means the the Trump team is burning down.

Which is it, is Dowd good for the Trump team or bad for the Trump team? I can't keep up which way you anti-Trumpers are going.

It's like no matter what Trump does you say it's bad and I know that you guys a way to fair to react like that.

“The president has a terrific case and has proved it to the Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team in spades,” Dowd said.

“I am so proud of the president’s transparency, and how anyone could accuse him of obstruction after the president’s extraordinary cooperation is beyond me," Dowd said. "I love him and wish him well.”

I don’t know...and haven’t claimed to know....whether Dowd is good or bad for the Trump team. I just know that letting your lead lawyer go at this point isn’t a good sign.

If Dowd said anything but something like that (or nothing), he would likely be violating attorney/client confidentiality and subjecting himself to bar sanctions.

What he said might very well be true....it also might not be.
