Joe Lieberman is top choice for FBI Director

Weird. Does Lieberman really plan to serve his full 10 year term and leave the position at the age of 85? It could all be smoke and mirrors too:

You don't really believe Trump wants to drain the swamp do you?

He just wants his own gators in there.

I agree. That said, I do believe Trump wants a lot of the same things we do. We want the economy to start growing above 1%. He wants small business to grow and boom as that will make his business grow and boom. So while I agree that he really is out for himself, in many cases, those interests align with many of us.

I laughed so hard Lyft driver wanted to know what was funny. I read some of what you wrote. He is still laughing....

I'm trying to figure out which part you find unrealistic or funny? I agreed that Trump is really out for himself. I just believe that the things Trump wants that will help his bottom line are the things that I believe will benefit America as a whole economically.

Good move Joe. Disagree with him on some issues, but think he would be a fine FBI Director. Politically expedient for the POTUS as well.

I have mixed feelings on a possible Lieberman nomination. On one hand, Lieberman, from all accounts, is a well-respected and fair individual.

However, he is politician. He also has no experience working in either the FBI or the DOJ. He was Attorney General of Connecticut for six years and Chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee for six years. But no direct experience working in the FBI or DOJ. Not to mention that he is 75 years old. Not saying that is too old (no one should be discriminated based on age), however, the FBI Director is appointed for a ten year term. That would mean Lieberman would be 85 if he stayed on for ten years.

Also, Lieberman is a Clinton Democrat. He is a third way guy. He was chair of the DLC from 1995 to 2001. How in the world can Trump claim he is draining the swamp or taking on the establishment with this pick? This is about establishment as you can get (which btw, makes sense politically but I wonder how his supporters will react).

Not to mention that Lieberman also works for Kasowitz, Benson, Torres . . . a law firm with close ties to Trump.

I was wondering how the two of them were connected. Joe seems to have come out of left field.

Among the candidates who seem to be finalists at this point, I think Trump should nominate McCabe. McCabe is an FBI man and well respected within the FBI (although he does have some distractors, as is always the case). He is also a counter-terrorism expert.

I don't Trump will do this btw but just giving my two cents.

Yeah, that is at least one connection. I'm sure there are others.

It is just interesting (not surprising though unless you are one that really believes Trump is anti-establishment) that Trump may settle on a DLC Clinton loyalist to lead the FBI. I mean Lieberman has been connected with the Clintons since their days back at Yale Law.

I would think supporters of Trump would be up in arms about this potential nomination.
