Jeff Sessions Resigns

We had another president fire his AG amid an investigation...didn’t work out too well for him.

Guess we’ll see, but he’s made it news 1A, so he better be ready to deal with it lol

AG Lindsay Graham, come on down!
Graham is going to be Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee although he could seek the AG spot. Don't know if the GOP wants another special election this soon to replace a Senator even if in S Carolina. Whomever the new AG will be I doubt he/she will be a milquetoast like Sessions turned into.

This will be interesting. Seems to be a huge invitation to a constitutional pissfight. Kavanaugh can bail out Biff.

Whitaker is a Biff stooge.

Beauregard's resignation letter is undated.

Mueller will have a contingency plan for just this scenario.

I'd expect a Mueller report and maybe some addtional charges to be launched sooner than later.

Biff was definitely is a bad mood today.

I see this as one of two plays:

1) He's actually concerned about the Mueller investigation so trying to cut the legs off it before the Dems are in power. This will be the news angle, but its pretty feckless given that once the Dems are in power, they can re-instantiate any number of investigations into the president. Thus I'll be surprised if Trump actually makes any move against Mueller or the investigation.

The other option

2) And this is some 4D chess, which I don't really prescribe to Trump. This is a feign. Threaten the investigation, so the media cycle and now Pelosi turns her attention to triggering new investigations and scrambling to write bills and such that 'protect Mueller' so the Dems spend the first 6 months in Congress focusing on "Investigate" rather than "Legislate". And then he runs in 2020 showing that Dems get into office and its all TDS, all the time. And just look at this thread. The Libs immediately jumped that this was an attack on Mueller. Wouldn't shock me to see Pelosi fall for this piece of cheese.

BTW, I normally wouldn't put Trump into the latter play. He's so off the cuff that he rarely comes off very strategic. That said, the outcome from option 1 is so clear that even Trump can see that directly influencing the investigation is a non-winner for him.

But we'll see what happens over the next few weeks and into Jan when the new Dems report.

Trump named Matthew Whitaker, Sessions' Chief of Staff, as acting AG and put him in charge of oversight of the Mueller Russian probe. Whitaker is not a fan of Mueller nor is he conflicted.

I MOSTLY agree with Mr. Parry when it comes to pretty much any subject of any investigation.

Can’t think of a good reason why the subject of any potential criminal investigation should ever cooperate with investigators. They shouldn’t actively obstruct and when it comes down to claims of executive privilege in records of the office, should comply with subpoenas or court orders after all appeals have been denied.

But my old criminal defense days might be coming back and I have never faced the political (as opposed to legal) implications of what non-cooperation might be as a consideration. The political implications of naming someone as AG overseeing the Mueller investigation that has endorsed those opinions by putting on their twitter thingie are certainly problematic.p to me.

I don't think anybody is questioning the tactical wisdom of the advice, he just looks like a hard core partisan. I don't know what interim power he has, but if you were gonna try a Saturday night massacre, getting rid of beauregard looks like an obvious move.

Wanna see some mental gymnastics? Watch the upcoming evolution of MAGA's opinions regarding LE and prosecutors having political biases.

Why do you think he fired beauregard?

I would speculate that he did it for several reasons: 1. Sessions’s recusal and hands off approach to the Mueller investigation; 2. Sessions stand on mj drug enforcement; 3. Their mini-twitter subtext war; 4. Basically anyone that doesn’t kiss his ass Daily will be gone before too long.

A SNM might be coming, I dunno. More likely in my opinion is an attempt to direct or impede it or scuttle it with lack of support rather than outright killing it. It’ll be interesting. I was just a kid during the original.

This is always a dumbass tac.

You wanna tell us about all the cases and tactics of Muellers teams past? Real pussycats.

Any of them get a $26,000,000 judgement for fraud?

Wait.... Didn't Biff have to pay something like that for his shitty college that defrauded the students?

It’s a waste of time. The zombies will continue their march until either we(America) or they(Trumpkins) are left standing.

Graham to AG. Nikki Haley replaces Graham in the Senate, stays a few years to increase her bonafides and then makes a run for President.
