US to Russia: We are going to treat you as an enemy but we want you to act like we're not up to anything. We're really not. Trust us. There's no reason to be concerned (after invading Afghanistan, Iraq, overthrowing the Libyan government and attempting to do the same in Syria until Russia intervened).
Went through a stage once where I read as much about Russia as had time for. One of the reoccurring themes from the late 1850's on was how the Russians did not trust the west because the west sided with Turkey during the Crimean War.
Don't really trust Clapper after his lies about the NSA data gathering early in the ex-rodent in chiefs term and see no reason to ever believe him.
