It Really Does Seem It Has Come To This

Just wait until Rs have 58 or even 60 in the Senate in 2 years.

that article had a lot of fancy words i should have remembered from soc 1114

but poke 2001 comments are what it boils down to

the more the not my president crowd abrogates their own arguments with mindless kicking screaming and protests, they subjugate their interests to the backbone of this country that elected trump in this 2016 referendum and eliminate any hope returning to this snowflake society we saw evolve the last eight years

That happens all the Dems can protest and not even show up. Get enough in to defeat a filibuster and they will be relegated to just breathing in air and mouthing off, might as well stay home in their safe rooms and not vote, will not matter.

Irrelevant. Given the actions the dems took in '08 when they were in power, plus what the Repubs will do (nuclear) to get the SC pick in, the filibuster will be dead. We are almost to a majority rule congress and the minority party be damned. Even though 'my side' may be the one in power (for now), this direction scares me significantly. Historically, our government has succeeded by taking representatives across the spectrum and finding a generally moderate path to move forward. A completely partisan, no compromise government does not and cannot in good faith represent its governed citizens.

As much as I can't stand the D's, no debate is a bad thing. I don't trust the R's either. Our politicians have shown time and time again to abuse their power when given the opportunity. I really hope the d's wake up and come to the center or some reasonable pragmatic people (like Manchin) break off and speak out on the insanity of the left.

you may be right and we may have over corrected

but consider the path our country was on and the implications of a snowflake scotus nominee and hildebitch at the helm

that scared this country enough to come to this point

I agree, and I'm glad we corrected when we did. What scares me though is that each correction (in either direction) is getting larger.

If you look back, Clinton's presidency was a success because he moderated his left positions and met with Gingrich who moderated the right's positions so they could compromise and find a middle path. I think even George Bush was moderate in his positions. We can argue the war, but all but a handful of Dems voted for it too. Very little of his legislation was passed on party line votes. Everything Obama and the Dems did was party line. Everything the Trump admin is doing is party line. Where's the middle? This country won't survive if our country's only choice of direction are Nancy Pelosi's left and Ted Cruz's right.

the trump presidency has a long ways to go

this opening salvo could simply be that
(the leader of mexico runs a lawless country and do we really have any need to concern ourselves with statements from the ayatollah?)

while the wheels of returning to responsible fiscal policy small government and making america great again continue to turn

we shall see
