I just happened to turn on the tv to Tucker Carlson’s show. He’s reporting on the homeless crisis in major California cities complete with video of tent cities on streets littered with trash, needles, feces, vermin. Of course he’s putting the blame on the Democrats that have run those cities and that state forever, as he rightly should. I agree they are to blame for the situation.

But that’s not why I’m starting this thread. While watching those retched pictures from California I was reminded how some on this board have vilified aliabedi, a fellow OSU alum who happens to have leftist political inclinations, for living in a shithole country, as if he should not be allowed personal political opinions because of conditions in parts of his homeland.

I don’t know aliabedi, but I would venture to guess he lives in a house and a neighborhood every bit as nice as the houses and neighborhoods in which his detractors reside. It seems patently unfair for people on this board to denounce aliabedi for living in a shithole country when there are plenty of areas in our own country that can match Pakistan’s destitution shithole for shithole.

Maybe it would make more sense to argue against his leftist ideology in a sane and reasonable manner rather than seek the lowest denominator. I think it makes a person look small to attach conditions in one’s country as validation to reject and insult the person with whom he is conversing. Aliabedi, as far as I can tell has almost never responded in kind. Looking at the pictures from Carlson’s show makes it hypocritical that one feels superior about conditions in our own country. Carlson held the mirror up for us to see, and it isn’t a pretty reflection.

That's not what ironic means.
Please educate me on the proper term to describe a situation in which one person speaks ill of another for living in a country that harbors the same conditions as the person doing the insulting. I thought the correct word would be irony. I’ll change the title if you’ll supply me with the correct word. Because, obviously, using the correct word is not the point of the post.

Irony would be that if shit talker's actions directly caused themselves to then be forced to live in a shit hole country.

Say I talk shit to someone in another country and the act of shit-talking gets me expelled to that very country - that's irony.

You were wanting hypocritical or coincidental.

Oh,yes, I see, hypocrisy is a far better term! I’ll change the title immediately! Thanks! Just goes to show you’re never too old to learn something!

Or maybe to you point... when he takes pot shots at America, the people on this board take pot shots at his country. Treating him equally as any other asshole is the definition of fairness.

I know I’m old and frequently feeble minded, but I cannot recall aliabedi ever trashing America. Donald Trump for sure (but, then, so do I) and Republicans/conservatives often. But I don’t recall him speaking ill about the country where he got his degree. I even occasionally see he posts in the sports threads. I have always thought he likes America, just not Trump.

You miss a lot then.

Did you ever stop to think that most of us do not want what is happening in some of these Democrat controlled cities? It's obviously good with the left but those of us on the right think something is fundamentally wrong in some of these supposed liberal utopias.

Don't worry. It's about to get worse in California and those vermin infested cities. California is on the verge of banning rat poison across the state. There will be very limited exceptions and none of those include residential use. Diseases which are already spreading throughout the homeless will spread to others. The potential for epidemics of flea borne diseases like plague, hantavirus and typhus (already present) is high.
