I remember when KWTV tower went up in Edmond. Tallest TV tower in the world. The call letters stood for World's Tallest Video. When KWTV went digital in 2009, the tower came down and was sold for scrap.
There's a 2200 foot tower in South Dakota, the nation's tallest. The FCC now caps TV towers at 2000 feet. KATV in Little Rock is 2000 feet.
Correction: Today finds the tallest TV tower in the world is KVLY in North Dakota at 2063 feet.
KWTV was the tallest man made structure in the world when it went up in 1954 a little over 1500 feet. A couple years later, a New Mexico TV tower went a couple hundred feet higher.
