Did anyone watch that last night? Between Terry Brands and DeSanto they put on quite a show. It’s like watching a can of gasoline right next to a fire. Just waiting for the explosion.

Lol a synopsis I read said that one of ISU's wrestlers, after losing his match, tried to shake the Iowa coaches' hands but the Iowa coaches wouldn't shake. That's about all I need to know. I can respect dominant wrestling (see Lee, Marinelli), but can't respect consistently poor sportsmanship by men-children (see DeSanto, Eierman, Brands coaches). I get that it's a rivalry, but those guys aren't exactly well behaved elsewhere either.

Lee didn't wrestle, and they never said a word why not.

As for their antics, it was no different than any other psycho time they step on the mat.

I watched a little, one match I think it was Desanto pushed his guy off the mat and continued well off into a table between the benches and the ISU wrestler flung his elbow as he came around, Brands went absolutely apeshit and should have been tossed right there. Both wrestlers were awarded a point for the unsportsmanlike…. Can’t believe the antics from both brands, desanto and eirman. Not good for the sport.

At 197 Warner returned after being injured and a leg was heavily wrapped. He should have waited because he was slow and rusty and his opponent Bastida took advantage of that and got the only two takedowns of the match for an upset win.

I don't think Lee has any ACLs, still. From perusing a bit of black/gold journalism it seems like they really want him to be a 4x champion so they're going to rest him until much later in the season. Seems to be happening more and more with top guys, or maybe I just haven't noticed it until recently. Pretty much every weight class has a top 10 guy that hasn't wrestled yet this season.

I haven’t seen Kemerer either. Michigan appears to be resting a lot of their team. Penn State has guys that I haven’t seen on the mat yet. Maybe they have injuries.

Not that you hope anyone has injuries... but part of me does hope it's a legitimate reason like that and not just skipping most of the season so they can avoid tough matches and thereby preserve their rankings/seeds. Cuz that'd be pretty lame, but completely allowable as well.

It is bound to happen when a lot of these guys are in their 5th and 6th year and/or have been wrestling for 15 years or more. The body can only take so much and the way D1 teams train for wrestling, it makes perfect sense that there will be many injuries. These guys really beat their bodies up and don't always take the time needed to heal.
