Is it worth going to Pushmataha County to contest a school zone speeding ticket?

Was clocked going 63 in a 45 (which I don't believe I was going nearly that fast, but anyways...), in the town of Rattan, got back home to OK county and called the number given to me on the ticket to find out my damages.

Apparently, I was in a school zone (a 45 mph school zone?) and my ticket is 300 dollars. I looked it up on the Rattan schools website and school on Tuesday, the 28th, the day I was ticketed. Also, my court appearance is scheduled for June 18th at 7 p.m. 7 p.m. seems to be a very strange time, no?

Anyways, is it worth my time to drive all the way down to Pushmataha County again to try to get this knocked down or anything? Or would I be wasting my time?

Can you tell a cop to eff himself in a calm tone? I wonder if there is anything legal they can do? I was pulled over by trooper who was on his period or something. Pulled over for an out of date tag. I had just moved and the reminder was sent to my old address. He was lecturing me acting like a dick. Said that they stopped sending out reminders. Which was a lie. Then preceded to write a ticket. I have no problem with the ticket but save the damn lecture and don’t call me a liar. Closest I have ever been to verbally abusing an officer.

I recently got a ticket in Yale doing 32 in a 25 school zone on highway 51. I went to court to get what is called a deferred sentence. I still had to pay the fine ($160) but if I don't get any more tickets for 90 days it goes away so it never goes on my record or hits my insurance. That's the only reason I went. I'm not ever sure I had to only being 7 over but I only live 15 minutes away so didn't want to take the chance of a rate bump.

I'm at the end of the alphabet so I had to sit through 30 other tickets before I got to mine. Not a single person got out of the fine or even had it reduced. It was automatic that if you plead guilty and didn't have any prior offenses you got the deferred sentence. If you had priors you could still get the deferred if you took a driving class. If you couldn't pay all at once they'd schedule payments. They didn't reduce any fines at all for anyone no matter the offense or the circumstances. I don't know anything specific about that town but I'd be surprised if you could do any better than that. IntThose small towns it's all about the money.

Not if your goal is to get the fine knocked down of get out of it. Might be worth it if you looking for a deal like this.

The 45 mph is probably the limit when school is out. I'd bet its 25 or less when school is in session.

Well at least some things never change. Every time I drove that way to Stillwater there was a speed trap. Usually the cop was backed into an old drive-in restaurant spot.

Thought 32 in a 25 was a joke on a highway but it’s my own damn fault as I know Yale’s reputation.

Don’t trust yourself with no backwoods southern judges.
