As written, it's not really clear what you're saying.
That's a theory that some smart guy came up with. I think it's an oversimplification, but he makes a point. A genius that cant' delay gratification is immobilized in life. A moron that can will be more successful in about every dimension of life. Where does cognitive, pattern-spotting ability cede to real world ability to discharge a task?
and believe Toon has a bright future if he can reign in/manage that part of himself.
WHy do you say he's not in the middle of a bright future? Does he wake up happy? Fulfilled? Motivated to do something he enjoys?

You should check out the "Marshmellow Test" if you aren't already familiar with it. It is a great indicator of a person's developing self discipline.
