I would love to hear some of the reasoning (other than my pet lamb is so damned fetching I can't resist her) that they could provide to justify their no votes.

The 10 no votes were republicans. They voted no because the bill contains a line that reads "Anal sexual intercourse between two human beings shall not be deemed as a crime.” Since they haven't gotten the votes to get of the unenforceable crimes against nature bill, they added that line to this one.

The religious right is still stuck on what consenting adults choose to do in private.

Which is sort of ridiculous, as the Supreme Court ruled over 15 yrs ago, that anal (and oral) sex between two adults cannot be criminalized. (Thus the wording in the legislation is nothing other than making their state law consistent with the Constitution.)

BTW, they may be claiming that's the reason, but it my behoove the Louisiana State Police to bring in a veterinarian to do a check on any pets or livestock those 10 may own, or have access. (and yes, the word "behoove" was chosen deliberately.)
