Hmmmm. What happened to...

“I’m proud that on our very first day, we are presenting solutions to the American people,” Representative-elect Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Democrat of Florida, said in a statement. “I hope Republicans will support this funding measure so we can move forward and work on the issues the American people elected us to tackle.”

Whole that’s true...let’s be honest, the stalemate in Washington is decidedly in the hands of one side...

Reuters: “The Senate will not waste its time considering a Democratic bill which cannot pass this chamber and which the president will not sign," McConnell said on the Senate floor.

And then he preaches about bipartisanship on Capitol Hill.
No, it's not just one side. It's both sides equally. This is all about political wins. $5 billion is nothing in government spending. Democrats don't want Trump to have that political win though. Republicans have decided to chain themselves to Trump on the issue and don't want Democrats to get the win.

Congress is nothing more than a rivalry football game.

“President Trump has called for a wall along the border with Mexico to stop undocumented immigrants and drugs from entering the United States. But Border Patrol agents on the front lines say they need more technology and additional personnel to curb the illegal traffic, according to a report released on Thursday by Democrats on the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

The report was based on internal Customs and Border Protection documents from the 2017 fiscal year. It concluded that less than one half of 1 percent of the agents’ suggestions to secure the Southwest border mentioned the need for a wall....

Congressional Democrats and some Republicans, including Representative Will Hurd of Texas, have questioned the need for a wall and instead called for more technology along the border, such as sensors and surveillance equipment. A February 2017 study by the Government Accountability Office found that Customs and Border Protection had not shown the extent to which fencing and walls have secured the border.

The House on Thursday approved spending money on border fencing, but not a border wall. The bill would fund nearly $1.6 billion for border security, including technology and repairs to existing barriers. That includes $641 million for about 33 miles of new border fencing in the Rio Grande Valley.

The administration wants to spend $18 billion over the next 10 years to build a wall on nearly 900 miles of the Southwest border. Currently, there are nearly 700 miles of wall and fences on the border.

The Democratic report concluded that funding requests for a wall far exceeded proposed spending on border technology and personnel, which border agents identified as critically needed.

The president’s budget request for the 2019 fiscal year includes $43 million for remote video surveillance systems along the border and more funding for other security technology.

It also includes $255 million to hire and retain agents at the Border Patrol, which has been shedding personnel faster than it can hire. Agency documents indicate the Border Patrol must recruit 133 applicants to fill a single agent’s position. Mr. Trump wants to hire 5,000 new agents.

A program to detect drug tunnels beneath the southern border — another security priority cited by agents — was not funded in Mr. Trump’s budget request, the Democratic report noted.“

Facts are facts...being “fair” with them is irrelevant. Truth hurts sometimes lol
You do realize information can be spun into a narrative, right? Have you read the CBP documents yourself? Do you also believe that stuff that has come from Republicans in these committees is 100% presentation of facts without any political spin?

Well, they could ignore any document they didn’t deem favorable and only use the ones they found supportive.

I know flipping steaks is a mindless task, but in the real world, putting reports together allows authors to pick and choose what to publish.

Not much narrative here lol...facts are border agents want more technology and more agents first and foremost ...period.

What documents would have changed things? The one that didn’t spell out the agents’ primary wishes - more agents and more technology?

100% of agents thoughts were used in the report? Come on...even you aren’t this dumb.

Let’s say this was based on just half of the agents’ suggestions lol...less than one half of 1 percent of those 50 percent of agents suggested a wall, instead of more personnel and more technology.

You honestly think the other half has their heels dug in on a wall? No...their suggestions would’ve closely resembled the other half. Cmon man...even you aren’t this dumb.

Are the border agents opposed to a wall? Is the plan to only build a wall? Has spending in both of the areas you listed been increased during Trump's presidency? You do realize that all of the actual CBP spending and Trump's proposed spending are all available online, right?

Trump’s been pretty adamant about a “wall”. Not much room for word parsing there...at all. #facts.

If he simply told Dems: “I want more money for border security. These agents want more personnel and better technology first. We can also work on fencing/walling as we go, but we need to get the priorities as the border agents themselves see it”, this BS wouldn’t keep going...and you know it.

Uhhhh, again, you do realize that all of the actual info is all over the internet, right? Nobody has asked for a wall and nothing more. Nobody is prioritizing a wall over other border security measures. Maybe you should start by looking at actual budget and spending increases for CBP for the past two years as a starter. Look at what Trump has proposed. You're going full steam into useful idiot land in this thread.

Trump just literally said he’d create a faux “national emergency” out of thin air and build a wall via executive power. Now tell me who’s the useful idiots here?
