why is this such a complicated issue?

are you here legally?

yes? ok great you are afforded the laws rights and protections of the land

no? you are here illegally and you need to go home

go make your country great again

and don't despair there are guest worker programs where you can come work legally

If you make it almost impossible for an illegal to get employment and take away government handouts and the immigration problem solves itself.
Taking away the government handouts is perhaps the easiest way for them to self-deport themselves...or move to Chicago with Rahm. This is until one of the looney liberal judges appointed the past 8 years blocks taking away their handouts.

I'm in the construction industry and see a lot of Hispanics on job sites. Becoming a citizen is not an easy task. There was one gentleman who has been trying for years and the only thing that's happened is the lawyer representing him is collecting fees.

There needs to be a simpler process to citizenship. If I were Trump I would tell all of the illegal immigrants, who are currently employed, to get registered and come up with an easier avenue for them to become citizens. If they refuse, ship them back.

Sounds dangerously close to amnesty.

I have no problem with having a generous guest worker program and making it easier to immigrate. As long as there is extreme vetting and they can demonstrate they can financially support themselves and their family.

Come on in.

Discussing Amnesty or anything else is irrelevant until you have real border control. Once that's in place, then I expect you would find a significant amount of public support for pathways to legalization (and possibily citizenship) for those illegals that are here and are contributing to our society.

This is what we have said for years. I cannot hear your side of the argument until the border is secure. Don't talk, just shut up and secure the border. Then we can negotiate.

They'd still have to go through the proper and legal channels. Also pay the fee. I'm conservative, but know a lot of immigrants who are good hard-working people.
Agree, but I have two very good friends who are 6th generation American citizens of Mexican descent who have both lost full time jobs to illegals and are now taking work wherever they can. Their employer told them he could no longer pay the taxes required to hire them versus the illegals.

No doubt corporate America is a big problem.

I'm really curious how the Trump election will impact the number of illegals currently in the States. Will be interesting to see how many, if any, head for the hills.

When I was in Thailand during the coup d'état in 2014 when the military ousted the PM and took over control of the country, illegal Cambodians, Lao and Burmese took off in droves in fear of the new government. The construction industry was heavily impacted as they didn't have enough workers to get the jobs done on time. Immigration in Thailand has changed dramatically in the last two years. Much harder obtaining a visa now.

There are many able bodied citizens available to replace the illegals IF you take away their government handouts.

I'm sure you're right but somehow I don't see millennials rushing out to fill those jobs on the construction sites in addition to roofing houses and picking strawberries.

There are plenty of Sec 8 denizens who sit around/sleep all day.
