I don't think he'll run if HRC gets the DEM nom, which is still the most likely outcome.

But how would he impact a race of Trump vs Sanders? Would that almost cement a Trump presidential victory?

My other thought is if Bloomberg were to get into the race would that open the door for a more palatable repub to enter as an additional independent (Romney?).

Then you could have a legit 4 person ballot.

Sanders
Trump
Bloomberg
Romney

Purely hypothetical or are there reports that Bloomberg and Romney are mulling?

Romney is my hypothetical.

Bloomberg is considering running as an independent if after Super Tuesday it looks like Bernie is in position to win the nom over HRC.

OK. Hadn't heard the Bloomberg possibility.

I'd have a higher expectation of a Biden late entry than Bloomberg, though.

Just when you think it can't get any crazier....

Bloomberg is a liberal RINO. He'd draw voters away from the dems more than anyone else.

Background: Back in '07 I donated my right tit to cancer research at St. Francis, but had "good margins". Obviously, my left tit was the only tit left.

Fast forward to '16: Bloomberg is moderate/liberal, Jewish, and wants to tell us what size cola is acceptable, not to mention anti-gun!

Reality: My left tit, which still is my only tit left, is more electable than that asshole.

Classic. LOL

It's hard for an independent to get on all the state ballots. If you wait to late or don't have a large organization it's almost impossible. Bloomberg might have the financial recourses to pull it off but most do not.

The NRA would spend a lot of money to defeat him.

I'm hoping he runs. Will kill the dem's shot at winning the presidency.

If Bloomberg gets in this race I think it really opens the door for someone on the right to run as an independent and win. They don't have to win the electoral vote majority in the general election, just finish in top 3 of ev (as long as no candidates gets the majority of ev) and unless the GOP losses major ground in the house (currently have 34 of 50 votes) I think they'd be elected by the house.

  • So while a Sanders-Trump-Bloomberg election would leave voters on the center-left with several plausible choices, other groups of voters would be neglected. Notably, there wouldn’t be a true, Ronald Reagan-style conservative in the race. The election would also be something of a nightmare for libertarian-inclined voters forced to consider Sanders’s big government, Trump’s “yuge” government and Bloomberg’s technocracy.

  • If you had to choose, though, an independent Mitt Romney-esque candidate on the center-right might seem to have a better chance in a Trump-Sanders race than Bloomberg on the center-left. Such a candidate could build a coalition from well-educated Republicans in the suburbs, who are not very inclined toward Trump and make up about 21 percent of the electorate, according to our swing-the-election interactive. Nonwhite Republicans might also be a pretty good fit for this hypothetical candidate, although they’re only 6 percent of the electorate.
