1) Men's Bathroom Urinal Partitions - add urinal partitions to all men's bathrooms. Having no urinal partitions creates "pee fright" or "pee anxiety" (also called bashful bladder or shy bladder syndrome), which drastically slows down the men's bathroom lines. Adding these urinal partitions would be a great addition for the average man's game day experience. Below are some examples of some urinal partitions and they only cost about $100 each. In addition, oSu could paint the bathroom walls or bathroom stall doors with murals (or create a car wrap type of sticker) highlighting Cowboy greats along with a short story for people to read while they wait in line.

In addition, sell advertising in each urinal and stall to help pay for things like the above mentioned urinal partitions. These billboards are hung above each urinal and on the inside of the bathroom stalls. The athletic department could even use these billboards to advertise the oSu app, tickets for other sports like baseball or football season tickets, etc. Here are some examples of billboards for urinals and stalls.

2) Corner Areas Around Stadium - baseball stadiums have done a pretty good job of adding to the fan experience. In these stadiums, most will have carnival type games (like throw a baseball and if you guess the correct speed on the second pitch, throw a football and hit moving targets or through different sized holes to win various prizes, or have a basketball shooting contest where you have to shoot a free throw through a smaller basket or use a normal basket, or score a goal by kicking a soccer ball into a small goal or by guessing the correct speed of the soccer ball (like the baseball game).

The above mentioned games can be setup on the ground level between the northeast and southeast entrances and on the upper section corners around the stadium. In my opinion, the carnival games are currently a HUGE missed opportunity for the oSu marketing department to put merchandise in the hands of their biggest fans. Plus, it helps to keep fans entertained (like young kids, college students who want to win a prize for that special girl, adults wanting to prove their youth, etc.) and more importantly it helps people create lifelong memories and stories from their experience. Additionally, more revenue in being generated on game days and they can staff these booths with current oSu players, former players, & coaches from those teams (drawing more fans to these games and making the experiences even more memorable). This would help other athletic programs promote their teams, create goodwill with the fans, create added excitement and anticipation, and ultimately get more fans to attend games for other sports (more ticket sales = larger athletic budgets).

3) Interactive App - this would be a free interactive app that a person can upgrade to play for $5 per game to win oSu merchandise. A person playing this type of game can earn points from trivia and by predicting events in the game (like scores at 10 minute intervals, total 3-pointers, total free throws, etc). The good news is this app will help oSu generate more money for the athletic department (from the $5 per game subscription fees) AND it will keep fans interested and engaged during those dead times in games (before the game and at intermission). If oSu is worried fans would get distracted from the games, they could require fans to submit their picks before the game or during halftime. In addition, oSu could help to advertise this app by using the urinal billboards to explain the app and by listing the Top 10 people on the video boards at intermission and at the end of the game. Then the top 10 people at the end of a game would be recognized on the jumbotron and rewarded with oSu merchandise, tickets to other sports, free food and beverages on a gift card to be used at the next game (making them want to return), and receive a personal pass to walk on the court and into the locker room after the game for a behind-the-scenes tour of the complex. To make this app happen, oSu could add these features to a current oSu app or use a third party vendor like www.kwarter.com. This kind of competition could also be used to determine who participates in sponsored events like the BOk throw at halftime and help to keep fans at the stadium until the end of the game to see if they are in the top 10 (winners must be present to win).

4) Stadium & Concessions – add the ability to order and pay for food using an oSu app, then being to go pick up their food once it is ready in a certain line at the restaurant they just ordered from by having them scan a QR code receipt (confirming exactly what they ordered). In addition, having a map of the stadium on the same app showing you exactly where you are using GPS location. The stadium map layout could even be displayed before the game on the jumbotrons and on the back of the program guides (for no additional costs) explaining the benefits of the oSu app to remind people in the stadium where to go and highlight each area of the stadium like unique concession stands, the locations of the carnival type games, etc.

5) Stadium Tours – Add tours of stadium in the spring & summer for the fans. Charge a small amount so fans are more likely to attended the tours (maybe charge $10 per child under 18 or senior citizen and charge $15 per adult so any average fan can still attend). Then schedule tours around a break for lunch and dinner so fans can eat and meet players. Also, use this amount to offset any costs to pay others to do these tours (maybe people within the athletic department can have first priority to lead these tours for the additional pay). Allow fans to take as many photos as they want and ask them to post to social media and tag oSu in the picture to be eligible to win merchandise at the end of the tour (FREE advertising to thousands of their friends and family). Then at the end of the tour give the winners some merchandise so they show the oSu brand wherever they go and the tour will have exceed their expectations.

6) Stadium Wifi – adding more FREE wifi will allow the athletic department to really push fans to use their app where the fans will be able to do things like watch instant replays and highlights from the game (like the NFL fans do at places like the Chicago Bears stadium). Or just to be able to look at scores around the country, check their Facebook page, check the Instagram page, etc.

What do you do for a living?

I was a teacher & coach for 13 years at a 6A school in the Tulsa area. I occasionally do consulting work on the side (with an emphasis on problem solving issues for companies & analytics/projections). Currently I do real estate full-time.

The following ideas seem basic and I don't understand why the athletic department hasn't addressed this already.

1) Jumbotron screens before the game - show video examples of how to use the app and pictures of what the icons look like when a person goes to download the app and the specific text you can use to search.

2) oSu FanEX app - more features like trivia to win prizes, able to order & prepay for food (when you go to pick up the food they just have to scan a QR receipt which cuts down on the line), map of the stadium showing different food options and menus, video highlights from the games, videos from the coaches and players, etc.

3) Jumbotron Readable Text - during the national anthem actually have the words on the screens. After the game, always have the OSU alumni song words on the screen. Some people know the words to both songs, but there is a large number of young people that do not. It took me until I graduated and started seeing these words on the Jumbotron to learn the alumni song. This needs to happen for both the alumni song and the national anthem.
