Clayton as my VP candidate, I mean if Cruz is naming running mates and doesn't have a chance to win the nomination why can't I? Seriously is it normal to name a running mate before the nomination when you are a distant second?

I can't stand Cruz.

Reagan did in 1976. But it was much closer to the convention.

I know they will name before the convention, it gives them sometimes that extra boost but has someone mathematically eliminated from winning the nomination ever named their running mate this early? Im sure he's hoping for a boost but it just seems desperate to me, if they really didn't want Trump to win they could have done a lot better job much sooner than this last ditch effort.

I don't disagree.

Trump took great advantage of the situation and his own name recognition to develop a large enough advantage that was extremely difficult to overcome. I think he had an eye on making it him vs. Cruz or him vs. Rubio at this juncture, expecting he'd do well against either in NY/PA/CT/MD/RI. That's why he focused on Bush right out of the gate.

Cruz must win in IN to have any shot at getting the nomination. Even then it appears it will likely now end up being Trump.

Lol you beat me to it...

I wonder who wavy gravy will name bc he is about as relevant as Cruz these days

The "alliance" was desperate. Cruz naming a VP at this point is comical.

Did Cruz really say trump is the media's choice to be the nominee? What planet is he on?

In my best Cool Hand Luke voice, "what we have here is the worst choice of candidates since God was a corporal." None of the five are fit to serve, nor is there enough Summers' Eve in the world to cleanse the stench from them. Sadly, karma will be paying one last visit to America.

The funny thing is the only way Cruz gets the nomination is through a contested convention and if it's a contested convention he technically wont have 100% say in his running mate. Not saying the delegates wouldn't nominate his VP choice, but there is that possibility...
