Good article and I also believe goes hand in hand with those in the political class who win election after election. Most continually climb the leadership ladder and most continue to try and stand out. They eventually become so grotesquely empowered their own parties/presidents won't stop them and they lord over global decisions, that most regular people with common sense know are full blown losers. We quit trying to win wars during The Korean War and haven't stopped since.

If you read much about French Indochina and their final defeat at Dien Bien Phu, you'll know they asked the US for help, up to small nukes. One Senate leader, LBJ, said absolutely not...wrong place wrong time. But a few years later and with infinitely more power, they lied about The Gulf of Tonkin and here we go.

These guys are beholden to their own egos and not what's the greater good for the US. Not all of course, but certainly many of them. We have absolutely no reason to interfere in a civil war more than 4 time zones either direction. The dam muslims will never assimilate, get along with each other or get along with other cultures/religions. Let them exterminate each other and if they venture to close to our shores kill their sorry asses.
