I don't get the narrative that OSU/Holder disrespected Underwood with his original contract.
We offered him 250% of his SFA salary. Which one of you can tell me that if your employer offers you a 250% raise, there is a chance that you will feel disrespected 11 months later?
I get it. Now he is making 3 MM/Yr, and our 1 MM/Yr is not close to that number.
But, we hired an older HC, who had not been a HC for long, and who had never been HC at a P-5 program.
I don't get this line of thinking that Holder should have paid him more, to prevent this from happening. Holder made an offer that he felt was fair, and Underwood jumped on it. Some of you are acting like he had no choice and signed with OSU under duress. Yes, we all felt that we got a great deal at the time. Isn't that what Holder is supposed to do when he hires a coach? What happened the last time he paid a BBall coach on what he perceived as potential and likelihood of future success?
