I miss Leyton "Mr. Invisible" Hammonds.
I've heard a lot of people say Carroll is struggling because Evans is gone, and I have pointed out that he also misses the spacing Forte provided. I tend to forget Leyton Hammonds ever existed, but looking back, he probably helped spread the floor as much as anyone, pulling one of the opposing bigs out of the paint.
Evans did a great job of setting up Carroll's 3 point attempts last year, but Carroll was also much more successful making straight line drives to the basket all on his own. His percentage of shots at the rim has gone way down this season, and I think that's due to the fact that the spacing was infinitely better last season with Forte and Hammonds spreading the floor.
As I mentioned in the game thread, it really makes you wonder why we haven't gone small other than a few games where we started Carroll at the 4 and, in my opinion, played some of our best ball of the season.
