Hurts Donut

[HD Poke]

Has anyone been there? I happened to drive by the location in downtown Tulsa about 11 pm on Saturday night and it was packed and people were standing in line outside. Since I don't live in Tulsa anymore, wondered what the people really thought about this place?

I see there is one up in Frisco TX as well but I don't make it up there very often, however I may have to make a stop by there if it would be worth it.

Not worth it in my opinion. Give me a glazed/chocolate glazed from Daylight any day over those "donuts."

About a $6 donut at that. Big and covered in additional crap like cereal, cookies, and/or candy bar pieces. Too much crap when you just want a donut.

They seem like desserts to me and not donuts. I truly don't get the hype at all. I have someone that works for me that goes a couple of times per week. I don't understand.

They have all kind of crazy doughnut fillings/toppings. I think it's overrated, and only eat them when someone brings a box to the office which right now seems to be once a week.

Their maple bacon is pretty damn good but I've seen lines 200 people deep. Lol

I'm a donut fan. But, I like all of the the common ones that have been around for years (cinnamon rolls, maple glazed, blueberry cake, etc). I've never been to Hurts, but we have similar places in Dallas. Adding all that crap to donuts is not necessary and is over the top. Not interested.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It's more like ordering a piece of cake than a "normal" doughnut. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but don't think of it like Daylight or Krispy Kreme.

Hurts originally started in Springfield MO and quickly grew from there. I work with one of the original founders. I tried to convince her to expand to Stillwater following Springfield. Their business partners were UO grads so of course they went to Norman next. The business is expanding rapidly and I think they've grown to 13 shops in about 2-3 years. I'm not a huge fan but a couple of the donuts are pretty good. It's definitely not your run of the mill donut
