1. Constitutional amendment to impose a conflict of interest standard on Congress, similar to what judges have.

2. National health insurance policy at cost for anyone that takes care of themselves with basic guidelines (e.g. tobacco, weight, etc.).

3. About nobody agrees (especially partisans) but I still think vote by representation is an anachronism - especially on a state level. We don't need it -- everyone has real time access to everything going on without having to get on a horse and ride for two weeks to vote. Vote by proxy, per issue. I can assign my vote to Bob for infrastructure, to Mary for abortion and Spike for climate votes. Any votes regarding hair product go to Mega. It needs to be re-thought. We have too much need for specialized knowledge and expertise now to have the Devin Nunes' (or insert hated liberal) of the world voting on everything. Citizens should be able to assign their votes on a specific topic to whomever has some knowledge of the subject matter. Race and abortion have elected our Congress for generations and it's killing us.

4. Rain, rain, go away. This has been a hellish week and I need to hit the water.

I like this. How do you envision enforcement?

Well @syskatine, are you ready to fall out of your chair?

Repeal the health maintenance organization act of 1973. Make it illegal to make profits on the provision of healthcare. Force them all to become 501c3's. It's still lucrative but I believe the cost of care would decrease.

Cost of care increases around important events:

1961-1965 2.1%
1966-1973 5.1%
1974-1982 9.7%

#5. Eliminate lobbyists. Ban them. All of them. The only money politicians can take is from individuals, for campaigns, for dinners, for vacations, all of it. And the limit on individual contributions is limited to the lowest common denominator. $50 per year per person.

#6. Term limits. One term as Senator. 3 terms in the House. 6 years you're done in Washington.

#7. Amendment that requires a balanced budget.

Three out of four ain't bad for you.

Lack of representation is great for homogenous urban clusters and terrible for flyover citizens like most people you probably know. Just a terrible awful idea.

Who is more beholden to his/her constituents, who is more beholden to his/her potential future employers on Wall Street: the Senator running for re-election or the Senator that knows he will never deal with voters ever again.

I can't imagine a worse idea in this thread.

You're talking how votes are weighted or proportioned. I'm talking how votes are cast.

Everyone hates the idea. I just don't see the virtue in your vote shouldn't be controlled by one person, across the board on all issues.

I dig what both have said minus the representative vote for reasons already stated by Mega.

However, I do wish we would go to an STV or some other similar voting structure. Anything that stimulates third or fourth parties.

Yeah, I'd like to see a proportional model, I've went into a lot of detail in the past on here.

I'm sure you can't. Imagine accountability in the feral government. What a disaster that would be. And no, feral isn't a typo. Continuing resolutions are the perfect way to fund feral government.

Who is more beholden to his/her constituents, who is more beholden to his/her potential future employers on Wall Street: the Senator running for re-election or the Senator that knows he will never deal with voters ever again.
I know you aren't this naive. You really think being up for reelection beholdens them to their constituents? Take the money out of Washington and the professional panhandlers will lose interest anyhow and term limits won't be needed.

Me neither.
Says the guy that gave us #3. Poor blacks can't get photo IDs to vote but somehow have access to real time information to assign votes to subject matter experts? Talk about stupid ideas.

No, it could be real time or one time in their entire life. You're making up rules that don't even exist and criticizing them.

Keep putting on the powdered sugar. It still looks like a stupid turd. Maybe you can get it to look like a powdered sugar coated stupid turd more quickly if you put it in a bag and shook it up.

Poor minorities can't get photo IDs. You clearly want to disadvantage them more by putting more complexity into the system. How many subjects will you be able to assign your vote on? How is the average poor minority that has a hard enough time getting a photo ID going to have the resources to figure out who the subject matter is on infrastructure and climate change?

Imagine the net private sector savings dropping to $0. Now imagine the next recession and as tax revenues fall the government starts laying off people, and cutting benefits, and reducing purchases, and the recession spirals into a depression.

Who is more beholden, the person up for re-election or the person shopping their resume around the private sector for when their term is up?

Maybe you should focus on that.
