Since Travis signed his contract many years ago, Football TV revenues at OSU has increased substantially over time. I know at one time OSU was getting about $17 million a year and now I believe it is at $27 million. Holder is pretty good about holding expenses down, and I believe the last time I saw the bottom line performance of the football programs in the Big 12, OSU was doing surprisingly well, I believe in the upper 3rd in the league in profitability. I would be shocked if Holder has incrementally increased Football spending dollar for dollar as our TV revenues have increased over the years. It would be interesting to know if our Football TV revenues are scheduled to increase under our current contract again. So, has Holder been allowing a spread to build over time between the increase in our TV revenues and our actual Football spending to create some discretionary dollars for the athletic budget in general as time has gone on?
When you talk about "AD" funds, you really are talking mostly about Football. Not sure how Mike is making the budget work, but if it is coming out of AD funds and not donations in the end it is being paid for by Football, I see no other major revenue streams to generate the spread between revenues and expenses to make this happen.
Just think if Holder's plan is for Gundy to help fund this by playing the defending national champion in Arlington every year for 4 years (all in blue)?
