Texas-sized Problems. Texas & Texas Tech still have never been ranked in the CFB Playoff rankings. Pretty crazy when you see teams like Western Michigan, Washington State, etc. Reports came out yesterday that Charlie could save his job with a strong finish. I just can't imagine the boosters/alums/regents would opt for more of the same as we go into 2017. Hey, more power to them! Now Tech is truly tied in to that sinking ship until 2020. Dana had growing pains at WVU but I feel like he quickly learned how to invest in good assistants, especially on the defensive side. How long will it take Kingsburry? W-L totals don't lie.
Cavs vs Warriors. The NBA gets the knock of being the most predictable league in sports and it's mostly a fair complaint and I'm huge fan. However, I feel that this has not been the biggest problem in the last decade or so. The problem to me has been the lack of a true rivalry to grab the attention of the casual sports fan. Lakers/Celtics in the 80s, Pistons/Bulls in the 90s, and then you didn't really have anything to that magnitude in the 00s. Lakers/Spurs, Spurs/Pistons, Lakers/Kings all didn't meet enough and/or grab enough attention. Maybe the Cavs vs Warriors can reach that level? Maybe. It is getting entertaining. Last week, Draymond Green said: "And then, if Cleveland comes out of the East, I want to destroy Cleveland. No ifs, ands and buts about it. But I also know that there’s steps to get to that point. And if and when we get to that point, I want to annihilate them." On Halloween, LeBron posted this picture on his Instagram trolling the Warriors.
Campus of OSU. Walked around campus during Homecoming for the first time in awhile. Unreal how things have changed even in the past few years. That business building is truly amazing. Even if Greek life isn't your thing, the walk down University is pretty unbelievable when you see all the new houses that have gone up. Those things are massive!! It'll be interesting to see what decisions are made about Kerr-Drummond. Everything must be up to code by 2020 or it will be deemed uninhabitable. It will cost $2 mil to update each elevator (8 of them in total). Rumor has been for several years that they would demolish them but as of August 2016, school is still undecided. 2019-20 will get here before we know it.
Rescue AD. Anthony Davis is healthy again and he is doing things we have haven't seen since 1991. Through 4 games, he has the most points since MJ in that '91 season. Yet, the poor Pelicans are 0-4. Wonder if Davis regrets resigning with them? Yes, a cool $145 mil is pretty insane but losing every night will get old quickly. Sad for the league to have one of the best players in such an awful franchise.
Baseball Stadium. Any movement here? Still waiting on the final donor(s)? I'll admit I'm not the biggest baseball fan but I'm ready to see what Josh Holiday can do with up-to-date facilities.
Tom Brady. At 39, he looks like he is playing some of the best football of his career. 1237 yards, 12 TDs and 0 picks in 14+ quarters this season. It's remarkable and I'm no Patriots fan. I just wonder if his legacy will be tarnished with Deflate-gate or it will only be remembered by a minority. Will he be remembered as one of the GOATs? Or a really good QB who most likely cheated?
Game 7. Like I said above, I'm not a baseball fan. I never really got into it. However, I'm pumped for this game! I'll be flipping between this and Thunder/Clippers. This is what baseball needed, though. This series (and really these playoffs) have gotten more casual sports fans to tune in. You have the story of the Cleveland and then the story of the Cubs. It's such a great storyline. Who are you guys pulling for? It's going to be electric and the TV ratings will be off the charts.
