I just learned the 3 KOKC, formerly KOMA 1520 AM 50,000 watt transmitters are back in place in Moore, OK. The 2015 Moore tornado knocked them down. I once listened to KOMA at Pearl Harbor.

An old air force buddy told me he listened to KOMA every night while he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Legend has it, KOMA engineers would crank up the Western Electric 250,000 watt transmitters full blast in early morning hours so the doggies in Vietnam could listen in. FCC permits US AM station maximum 50,000 watts. KOMA's 3 antenna night time array with it's westerly directional pattern generates much more than 50,000 watts. KOMA must protect the big 1520 AM station in Buffalo, NY.

I used to listen to KOMA in Spokane and Boise. No way in Fort Smith, AR.
