I have a bunch of liberal friends on Facebook and they gave been shellshocked since the election. It's unbelievably amusing. I think the reason if that they were convinced Hillary was going to win. One of my colleagues posted this after she voted:
"I teared up as I voted for Clinton. I'm with her, and prepared boss b*%ches everywhere. And with human rights. And with love."
And a post-election day rant from someone else (one of many):
"Good bye to health insurance for my patients, and a few family members. Good bye progress in HIV and hep C treatment and prevention. Good bye to women's rights and minority rights and immigrant rights. And gay and trans rights. And to the rights of disabled persons. And the rights of women not to be pared down to a number from 1 -10 based on their appearance. And to the right to religion and worship. And to kindness and compassion. And to consideration for the environment. All because our country is so sexist it couldn't elect a highly qualified woman over a sociopath. I feel like we've lost a referendum on racism and glass ceilings and even violence. I know the sun will come up tomorrow, but not for my patients who are going to lose access to medical care. Discrimination for pre-existing conditions could again prevent people from getting health insurance and subsequently health care. Access to assault rifles will increase. Children could be deported. Support for mental health care will be slashed. Federal budgets for medical research will be slashed (why not let the private sector drive the research agenda?) and a person who says mean things that lead to bullying of anyone who doesn't tow the line will be in the national spotlight. This guy makes Bush look like a friend. WTF 'Merica? Perhaps it falsely was but now (America never was America to me.)"
