Has anyone ever visited Russia? (Or considered it)

For all the hate and simplistic portrayals "Russia" receives from corporate media and uniparty elites -- Russia (the land) is staggeringly large, beautiful, diverse and complex.

For an idea, check these spectacular 4K highlights from the 8000 km Trans Siberian railway — the longest railway journey in the world.

Incredible video and journey:

Map of train route below — I’ve never even heard of most of these cities, but they look beautiful. If any of you are retired and have time for this trip, I don’t think you would be disappointed.

Also, Russia gets most often associated with communism (worst ideology ever) and mafia-ism, but it’s the culture that created some of the world’s best literature (Tolstoy, Dostoevsky etc), art, architecture, symphonies etc. It’s also very Christian.

I’m currently reading a book on the last Tsar, and learning a lot about pre-communism Russia. Fascinating place.

The book by Radzinky? Very good book. Also very sad story.

The era of Russians revolutions is a very good time period to study and read about.

almost last year for work. Still may happen but the project is on hold.

Below is the book I’m reading. It came out in 1967.

It’s incredibly well written (for only a few bucks) — within 10 pages of reading, it feels like you’re watching a movie.

And yes, I know the story is eventually very sad. I haven’t got that far yet.

But I will say that Nicholas and Alexandra had absolutely true love for each other.

By going with their hearts instead of their heads, in choosing to marry — Nicholas and Alexandra may have truly ended an empire, and faced a horrible ending with their children.

Very sad and tragic story indeed. If any of you love history but haven’t studied this subject — buy this book.

On a different, and more uplifting tip — this is believed to have been the largest music concert in history.

In Moscow, right when USSR collapsed.

Pantera, same concert:

James Hetfield (Metallica) recently talked about the concert with Joe Rogan.

Saw several American branded companies doing business in Russia. Are they colluding too?

It's also a corrupt, brutal, drunk, cold, shithole ran by thugs and criminals and has vastly under-performed its economic potential as a result. They have done every bad thing a country can do. They are still struggling with an ignorant populace, state-sponsored media, and an inexplicable, anti-democratic, authoritarian bent.

My understanding is that certain elements are also trying to glamorize Russia due to the investigation and that it's pretty much a white nation. I know you'd never participate in something like that, but I knew you'd want to know.
