That article basically made it sound like Hamas wants Israel will stand down not for Hamas to stand down. I don't see that happening. As long as Hamas is the "governing body" of the Gaza Strip, there will never be long term peace. It sounds like they don't want to get the full support of the US behind Israel because then they'd be f'd.

Exactly. Hamas would only want to end the war if there is a benefit to Hamas. In this case, it is to stop Israeli attacks on Hamas. But anyone who thinks that Hamas would stop attacking Israel is naive. Hamas will not stop its attacks on Israel until Israel no longer exists.
