Okc
Soooo I go by H&H yesterday to check on a part for my .45-70 that I ordered about 10 days ago and I see 3 OKC police cars at the end of their parking lot blocking the east end of the parking area. I didn't see anything inside as I went back to the counter at the gunsmith area to check on the part. Looked around a bit and did see a police officer inside walking around and I asked one of the employees what happened and the employee remarked that "we had an incident earlier". I could tell that he didn't want to say any more and I left it at that. I walked further down to the gun range area and one of the guys behind the counter down there asked if he could help me. I just said I was looking. He said what are you looking for? I said I was just looking, is that OK? I could sense something was off and I just got out of there. When I walked out to my vehicle there were still 2 police vehicles, a medical examiner vehicle and a crime scene unit vehicle. Yet there wasn't anything on the news last night or online. Wouldn't there have been something out there if there had been a shooting???

Dang this would be like the second incident then a while back they had a guy rent a gun and then killed himself. I sure love that everyone is armed there because it wouldn't take much for a crazy to rent a gun and go crazy.

I can hardly go in that store anymore. Everyone seems to be a condescending asshole that works there.

Suicides at gun ranges have become not all that uncommon lately. The one previous at H&H was in 2013. I wouldn't be too surprised if they didn't figure out a way to keep them out of the news after that.

Here in Florida because of all of the suicides most gun ranges will not allow a single person to rent a gun and shoot. To rent you must have someone with you.

I thought someone committed suicide at H&H last year but I'm not positive. I'm sure it happened in OKC but maybe it was at another range.

What's the name of the OKC gun place where booze can be consumed? Anti-gun "progressives" were worried that booze at the gun range would have catastrophic results. Any mass shootings or suicides?

I am pretty sure you are talking about the one that has a clubhouse and you can drink in the clubhouse not out on the shooting range popping off guns. I am also sure that once you consume a drink you aren't allowed on the range.

Didn't Chris Kyle get killed at a gun range?

Why are these people committing suicides at gun ranges? I assume it's because they don't own a firearm and they borrow or rent one while there?

If it's a suicide, sometimes they don't release info to news/media out of respect.
I don't believe it's an issue of "not releasing" that information, as police reports are public records.

What is far more likely is that as local newspapers have cut staffing, due to lack of resources, they probably don't have someone on full time going through the daily police reports to sniff out the news.

I went by H&H a little earlier to get the part I ordered couple weeks ago and someone did die of a self inflicted gunshot a few days ago. I believe that was the same day of the prison riot here in Oklahoma and that drew most of the news coverage that day.

Safety 1st in Edmond had it happen about a year ago. When I went by in May they were closed for good. I liked that range a lot.

Dang sad to hear that I really like that range also and the guy who ran it was really friendly.

I guess I now understand why some of the range marshals always keep such a close eye on me when I am at the gun range alone. Sometimes if my wife has to do something in OKC for a while I might take a few guns up and go shoot for an hour or two. I never knew this was as common as it seems. Of course I always bring my own guns so maybe that is why they let me go alone. Really hate it that people would do this. They are risking scaring some person who has to witness it and they are also risking someones lively hood. Very selfish.
