Welcome back, Toon. Nobody thinks we should dismiss renewable energy, but fossil fuels have absolutely been the lifeblood of capitalism. Look around you. Nothing moves without fuel. The ships, trains, trucks, and planes that move everyone and everything aren't optional. If they don't exist, neither does the prosperity of this country.Do you think we should dismiss renewable energy in favor of fossil fuels? Do you know that the solar industry employs more people than coal?
“Capitalism” is apparently flexible based on what you personally personally perceive as the “lifeblood of capitalism”, as the naive author puts it.

I think if you'd have conversations like this instead of the "you're an idiot" posts, nobody would have heartburn with you, including Alpha.I’m sure we won’t have the convo long once Alpha finds these posts and bans again.
Back to it...
I understand that...what I’m getting at is Trump made these giant promises to big coal, but the fact is the jobs haven’t come back like he said. In fact, Kentucky coal jobs are fewer than when he took office.
At some point, the empty promises have to be called out, no?

You're correct about coal and Trump and coal, but coal's demise as a fuel should come from the market, not from the government. As cleaner and cost effective alternatives to coal have come online, dependence on coal as a fuel has decreased, and that will continue to be the case even with the government not trying to put the industry out of business.
Good, non-political article on Trump and the coal industry....

I can't speak for moderators, only myself. I'm not the only one that feels that way though.I guess the “JFC you are dumb” or “fvcktard/dumbass/MAGA bitches.
/“disgusting pieces of shit/trash” posts on the other side are just to be dismissed as locker room talk by mods then?
That's a narrative. He doesn't have a vendetta against clean energy. His vendetta is against government over-regulation.Trump has had a vendetta against clean energy since he took office. Simply for political leverage to cater to his base, and that’s a fact. Progression and innovation be damned, he’s coddled a dying industry for votes.
As society? No...Do you think we should dismiss renewable energy in favor of fossil fuels? Do you know that the solar industry employs more people than coal?

Some friendly advice: when people call you names, insult you, castigate your opinion with epithets, ignore the insults and keep on point. You have a choice. You can "return fire" and turn the conversation into a completely juvenile contest to see who can be the most insulting, or you can ignore the insults, explain your position with civility, and soon enough those who are insulting you will stop. Another thing: every post on this board is not about Donald Trump, and does not need to be turned into what he said or did. Everybody on this board knows how you feel about the man. It is not necessary to turn every conversation into Trump hatred vs Trump adoration.I guess the “JFC you are dumb” or “fvcktard/dumbass/MAGA bitches.

To continue, I use this post as an example of what I talked about above. I don't believe Trump's name was mentioned one time in the original link. And yet within a couple of your replies you had diverted the conversation into Trump's lies to the coal industry. The article was a scorching criticism of Ms. Occasio-Cortez’ Green Energy Plan, and had nothing whatsoever to do with the sitting President. It was not necessary or proper for you to try to divert it into another back-and-forth over DJT. It's little things like this that drive me nuts, and cause me to avoid contact with you. You too often are a one-trick-pony. It leads one to consider that maybe you are unable to articulate any thought beyond Trump hatred. Sometimes it appears, to me at least, that the real you shows up. And those times have proven to be enjoyable. Some friendly advice: when people call you names, insult you, castigate your opinion with epithets, ignore the insults and keep on point. Coal is historically thanks to our country’s natural gas producers. And renewables are decades away from competing without significant increases in the price of oil and natural gas.Clint, renewables can not compete right now and will not for a long time.
Coal is history though, and T promised another thing he could not deliver on.
And there won’t be significant increases in oil and gas prices because we have figured out how to be profitable with shale at a much lower price, with far fewer people.Coal is historically thanks to our country’s natural gas producers. Nope, for many reasons. And there won’t be significant increases in oil and gas prices because we have figured out how to be profitable with shale at a much lower price, with far fewer people.

Can you point me to any politician that doesn't use things for political leverage and coddle shit for votes?
Uhhhh, how is that a vendetta against clean energy? That's a vendetta against China's trade practices. There is no vendetta against clean energy and you're wasting your time trying to invent one.Trump-imposed tariffs on imported solar panels isn’t a vendetta? It’s a free-market decision?
@Ponca Dan Trump tariffs on imported solar panels? Thoughts? “Free market”?
Have to agree with medic that it's not a vendetta against "clean" energy.Trump-imposed tariffs on imported solar panels isn’t a vendetta? It’s a free-market decision?
