Impressive to win fairly easily after being down by 11 at half.
I think it was hulsy, who posted at halftime that KU shot 3s so well in the first half, that they were due to shoot 10% in the second, and we would win if they cooled off significantly. He turned out to be right.
Biggest takeaway for me, from this game, was that this team has finally gotten to the point that it is no longer just Forte, Nash and some guys. Hickey is becoming a consistent 3rd playmaker. Cobbins is improving his impact plays on both ends (especially on offense). Newberry has become an energy guy who just makes things happen. Shine and Grifin were solid, but unspectacular today. And, of course, Solomon is improving with each game.
Ford did it again, and it wasn't because of foul trouble. He had Cobbins and Solomon in there together, and when he did, OSU played well and extended their lead.
Nash had a nice game. He is still settling for too many jumpers, IMO. When he is hitting those 15 footers, it is great, but lately they have not been falling. Good things happened when he drove today. More of that please.
Ford's teams always seem to peak about this time of the season. Unfortunately, they also fade about 1 game before the post-season starts. Can't worry about that right now, though. Keep the upward trend going, get to the NCAA tourny and get the best seed you can get.
Along those lines, I think there has to be some concern about Forte. He continues to log heavy minutes, gives 110 % throughout, and runs an extra few miles trying to get open. Hope he still has his legs for the home stretch.
Not excited about playing at BU. Especially since it is an early Monday game. These guys are going to be tired, and Forte is still not going to be 100% recovered from the flu. Hopefully, no other players get it.
We tied KU in rebounds and offensive rebounds and killed them in points in the paint. Pretty impressive and surprising on all counts.
We also killed them in FT attempts. Very surprising considering the usual officiating KU gets. Part of that was due to our guards driving hard to the rim. Very nice to see.
