I remember when forecasting was less dart throwing and infinitely less fear mongering. Tornado warning cones were like a slice of pie and not inclusive of their favorite term now “area.” A tornado warning say for Sand Springs lights up a warning for all of Tulsa County instead of a cone from the origin of the tornado and it’s probable path expanded on historical tendencies.

Eventually people are going to quit paying attention and the consequences will be dire.

Here at the lake, which is well, grand, they do county watches.
That is any hook echos in the county, they activate the sirens.
They drone on for hours on end.
Apathy, indifference will cause a tragedy.

Agreed. The boy who cried wolf kind of thing. I also do not understand how people can listen to the weathermen blather on for hours on end before, during and after these systems pass over.

Wednesday 5/22 I was supposed to fly out of Tulsa for Sydney AU. They had a hook echo in Sand Springs and off went the sirens. They herded everyone down to the lower floor and never shut the sirens off, was deafening.

Ended up have to push plans back a day as the pilot on the IAH to TUL, turned around and that was the plane which was a turn around for TUL to IAH. Tornado never got close to the airport and even after the sirens started an AA & SW flight landed. The United flight was cleared for landing a good 15 minutes before the siren and still decided to abort and go back to IAH.

How did the weather fart throwers get involved with lake levels also? They beat s dead horse into a fine powder.

It's not only the weather people. Watch any live program and you can see the commentator reacting to what's being said in his ears. On many talk show programs, the guest begins answering a question and you can see the facial gestures of the host change as someone off camera says for him/her to "cut off the guest or interrupt with some non-related comment". Rarely do guest get to finish answers.
