This International Freestyle event is being held this weekend July 9th and 10th and the freestyle portion is all on Saturday 7/9. This is a Senior tournament and Daton Fix will be wrestling in it at 57kg/125.5#. Other U.S. team members are Seth Gross at 65kg; James Green at 70kg, David Taylor and Zahid Valencia at 86kg. Thios is Daton's first Senior Freestyle tournament.

TOM reported that Fix is going 65 instead of 57. They said it was from the preliminary list of entries and it could be a typo, but I guess we will find out.

No worries. It is me. I took over the day to day operations of TOM a couple of months ago. Not all the articles are mine, but, for now, most of them are.
Fix is going at 57 kg. 65kg is 143.30 pounds and it is more than two weights up from what he wrestles. USA wrestling has the correct weights which were posted earlier. BTW congrats to Okiespladle for his accomplishments at TOM.
You're right, oberebo, James Green confirmed on Twitter that Fix will be 57 kg. That does make a lot more sense.
At 57 kg Daton Fix drew Kuatbek Mukhambet of Kazakstan in first round match. In August of 2014 lost to him in the finals of the 2014 Youth Olympic Games by a score of 7-6. Let's see how much he has improved since then.

61kg Seth Gross lost his first match by tech fall and did not place
70kg James Green won the Gold defeating Germany 7-5, Iran by 10-0 tech fall and Ginilatulin of Russia 4-3 in the finals.
89kg David Taylor won Gold by defeating Iran, 6-2, Zahid Valencia of USA 10-3 , Mongolia 14-7 and in the finals Istvan Vereb of Hungary 8-6.
86kg Valencia defeated Zhunis of Kazakhstan by tech fall 10-0 lost to taylor 10-3 and loss to Shahmohammadizad of Iran 2-4.
55kg Daton lost his only match 1-2.

Yes, but the experience will be invaluable for next time. He had an opportunity to see elite world wrestling up close and now knows where the bar is set. And he got a trip to Spain on his summer vacation
I hope the family was able to make a trip out of it. As much as I would like to have Daton in the room as a wrestler I think the family as a whole would add value to our program. My experience around the family has been very limited, but what I have seen I like.
First class family regardless of where Daton goes to school. He still to my knowledge has not made his decision. Both parents bring boundless enthusiasm and personality which will translate into more and better recruits for OK State and in addition Derek Fix is a well respected coach with ties to many programs. The Junior world championships in Macon France will give Daton a world stage and he will only heighten his popularity. The tournament runs fromAugust 30th to September 4th with the last 2 days being Freestyle.
