After 6 weeks we are 6-0 and that's as good as it gets. How we got there might not be that pretty but at the end of the day every win matters. Now onto the WVU game.
The Good
The defense - in a game where we turn the ball over three times yet still we win the TO battle that's a big game from the defense. With an offense that is struggling being able to get some points from the defense and a short field for other scores is huge. Came up big in OT as well.
Sinor - The kid was nails in the first quarter on his punts. WVU started their first three drives inside the 10. Really limited what WVU could do early in the game and never really allowed their offense to get in much of a rhythm in the first half.
Winning attitude - We all may hate how close these games have been but for as ugly as it's been, how these guys perform under intense pressure week after week is a very very good thing. We are a short hair away from being 3-3 but these guys find a way to make plays when it counts.
The Bad
Offensive production - Never could quite find a rhythm for much more than one drive of the game. Made some changes in OT which worked, why so late is beyond me.
PAT - Why PAT's seem to be so hard for us this year is just crazy. This one was on the holder but still made the game more difficult than it had to be.
Drops - Still to many drops. For as talented as our guys are we drop to many easy balls. Even the normally sure handed Glidden dropped one. We normally over come these drops but it needs to be fixed.
The ugly
Run blocking - This falls on everyone, not just the OL anymore. Seeing our guys all be on the same page and make key blocks is about as unlikely as seeing a unicorn. I saw plays where our pulling guard runs infront of our Cowboy back and the both take each other out without ever touching a WVU defender. I saw Cowboy Backs run past an oncoming linebacker only to block someone else 5 yards down the field while the guy they ran past blows up the play in the backfield. I saw guards pull and and make it to the point of attack only to whiff on the guy the need to block and then stand there and watch him make the tackle. I watched WR's completely get manhandled by smaller DB's and that shouldn't happen with the size we have a WR. An average running game would make this offense scary.
Rudolph INT's - Sadly this is becoming something you have to build into each game, MR will turn the ball over and it will end up giving the other team points and momentum. It's in the ugly category because there's so many of them, I realize it's to be expected with how little we have to make defense's respect the run but we can't keep this pace up.
