His cultists are a danger to rationality, which makes them a danger to the Party, which means clear sailing for the collectivism of the Democrats, which will ultimately mean the demise of our liberty. It’s time for rational Republicans to do to Trump cultists what the Democrats do to them: ridicule them until they permanently slink away and take Trump with them.

Thats so funny. So Rhino Republicans need to get rid of Trump because democrats will win if they don't? Democrats win if they do as they will just roll over and take it up the wazoo. Sounds like dems have nothing to worry about at all.

Yes, he’s talking about Trump cultists. Surely you recognize they exist. David Cole is not a leftist. Is there something he wrote with which you disagree? I thought he made sense of the dangers Trump and his cultists pose for Republican success in 2024. I invite you to explain where he is off base.

Another “not Trump” article from the right (supposedly) that does not propose an actual candidate to support.
The article is about Trump and the fringe goofballs that have latched onto him as a savior (can you say Corndog?) not about alternatives. Do you have a criticism of what appears in the article?

I’m curious what was written that led you to believe the author is a RINO Republican. Is the fact you believe he is a RINO all it took for you to dismiss his argument? I’ve read it a couple of times and I don’t recall him suggesting any Republican roll over and take it up the wazoo. Just the opposite in fact. But I have great respect for your opinion and I would love to hear your actual critique of what was written.

Millions of people across this country are not cultists for realizing that things were simply better under President Trump. Those who work hard to somehow get them to forget those times on the other hand…

— America energy independent for the first time in decades.
— Record low gasoline prices.
— No new foreign wars.
— Multiple peace treaties signed in Middle East.
— Positive economic headlines on a regular basis.

At no point in the article does the author claim every Trump voter is a cultist. He refers specifically to those few that are, and expresses deep concern that Trump has latched onto them in an effort to regain power, and shows why he thinks they will cause him willingly to screw the pooch.

I think Trump continues to be his own worst enemy. But the hissy fit all these people continue to have about him running just cracks me up. Yes for sure let's return to the good ole days, no outsiders trying to do what's best for Americans instead of lining the pockets of the political class, their donors & idiotic green energy cultists (they truly are cultists).

They want to blame everything going wrong on Trump yet can't bother to turn & look at their own grotesque imagine in the mirror & realize the whole upper leadership sucks! So lets kick ole Trump out of the way as a cover for us being unable to administer a kill shot to a 3/4 dead party in the recent elections, because we continue to be outmaneuvered by a bunch of socialist twits & shady voting procedures.

I personally hope DeSantis wins the nomination & Trump swallows his titanic sized ego & supports him, so those things that benefits the most Americans can happen. But you have to beat candidates with better candidates & better ideas, not lay every failure on their shoulders because your spot on the perch could be jeopardized.

Why is it if you support Trump you are a cultist? Because Democrats and the MSM are and have been working together to try and destroy Trump and their propaganda hasn't worked we are cultist? Democrats lied to the American people hoping they could sway enough people to support what amounts to a coup against Trump. The MSM knowingly repeated and amplified the lies to drum up support for the attempted coup. Now they call anyone that favors Trump over a Democrat a cultist? Seems to me the cultist would be the ones that have swallowed the lies and are allowing Democrats and the MSM to manipulate them. Isn't that the very definition of a cult?

I get some people don't like Trump's personality, I'm one of them, but I couldn't care any less about his personality, i only care about positive results for the American people. Like him or not the country was far better off when he was President and has taken a nose dive under Biden and the Democrats.

I'm not sure who I will support in the 2024 election other than I damn sure will vote against any Democrat. If DeSantis runs I will support him over Trump. If he doesn't and Ted Cruz runs I will support him over Trump but if it comes down to Trump or a Democrat there is no doubt I will proudly support Trump.

One thing for sure: they'll have a new massah/messiah/cult leader. Watch DeSantis be the next near mythical, William Wallace. They're born followers and need a massah.

I know a lot of people, too many probably, who are deep into the Trump-worship cult. They range from very decent older folks—good people, but also people who’d give their Mastercard number to a Punjabi cold-caller claiming to be from Windows security—to unmoored ideological fantasists who speak of “national divorce,” “secession,” and “accelerationism,” and who see in Trump a guy who’ll “burn it all down” even though he didn’t even remotely do anything like that the first time around (“He wasn’t angry then; he is now!” is the response you’ll get if you bring that up).

A core belief of these cultists is that MAGAs alone can elect anyone anywhere. They don’t just dismiss independents; they’re outright hostile to them. “To hell with anyone who’s not ‘one of us.’ We can do this ourselves!”

Even though, of course, they can’t. It’s a complete fiction that MAGAs alone can elect as much as a dogcatcher. But you’ll never convince them of that. They refuse to understand that Trump barely won in 2016 (a handful of votes in a few swing states), and of course they can’t accept that he lost in 2020. Not with MAGAs behind him! If you’re MAGA and you lose, it has to be fraud!

and this gave it completely away.

We’ve just had midterms that proved conclusively that swing voters exist and the GOP needs them,

The writer ignores the fact that Trump brought more independents to the party, that he lost in anti-Trumpers.

It wasn't that hard to figure out. Rhino's are out with their long knives right now, not because they are better for the party but because they think they see an opportunity to take back the party from the new Tea Party/Maga base that now dominates the party.

LOL they lost the presidency, the house, the senate, and didn't get the senate back in a dead-cinch midterm election with high inflation. They got the house by a whisker.

I say go MAGA!!!!

Trump upped his vote total from 63 million in 2016 to 74 million in 2020, an incumbent record. Somebody likes Trump. My classical mechanics formula tells me probability of Biden commanding an all time record 81 million legal votes probability is 0.00000000093. There are not 81 million Americans stupid enough to vote for a stiff who promised economic stagnation and higher crime in Democrat debates.

If I'm president, not another foot of wall will be built. Drilling for oil will end.

I recommend Rigged by Mollie Hemingway and the documentary film 2000 Mules.

I mistrust the authors. As you’ve probably figured out, I’m a Republican who believes that any republican is better than any democrat. If a Romney, Jeb, or Kasich is the Republican nominee in 2024, I’ll still vote for him. However, the authors of that article (and the so called swing voters) seem like the type of people who would prefer a Romney/Jeb type to a Biden/Harris, but would prefer a Biden/Harris to a Trump. I have no use and no respect for such people, especially when they profess to be right of center.

I honestly don’t think that is this author’s intent. Nothing he wrote suggests that, including the part you’ve highlighted. He is talking about the crazies, the Q’s and their like, which it appears Trump is courting and are the people who will drive rational people from voting for him, and he uses the recent elections as an example, specifically mentioning Kari Lake in Arizona as a prime example who assumed all she had to do was claim the MAGA mantle and she could dish against all others (I personally was quite impressed with Ms. Lake, full disclosure). He points out that as rational voters drift away from Trump and toward others the crazies will fill the void. I think he makes sense and I do not see RINO his writing.

Did you read the article? Nothing you wrote addresses his point that Trump seems to have abandoned talking about policies and has embraced the god-like status that the MAGA crazies bestow upon him. They are a *minority* with a very loud voice and it is incumbent that they be ignored if the Republicans hope to win in ‘24. Trump is doing the exact opposite, he is courting them. I understand that you’re a Republican and will vote Republican no matter what. One point this guy is trying to drive home is there aren’t enough of you to win. “Swing” voters told us in the last election they are concerned about policies (immigration) and are turned off by the incessant whining that the Democrats cheated in 2020. That does not appear to be a lesson Trump learned.

Right now Trump is the only Republican running in 2024. I’m sure the field will fill up, but until then he is the presumed candidate. The author does not even attempt to offer an alternative. He needs to put up or STFU.

Let me try one last time before I give up. I didn’t make your point as I understand the point you are making. I am saying your point is seriously flawed.

Cole, the author, is not saying all previous Trump voters are weirdos, He is not singling you out as one of the crazies. The overwhelming majority made sane and rational decisions when they cast their votes. But like every political organization in human history MAGA has an element of people who are bonkers, and those people have invested so much emotional energy and loyalty toward Donald Trump they have virtually deified the man. Trump rose to prominence by hitting hot-button policies that resonated with enough voters that he won by a gnat’s eyelash in 2016. But between 2016 and 2022 he has dropped all pretense at caring about policies like immigration, and has begun focusing on how the Democrats cheated him in 2020, and insisted he would only endorse those candidates that would make that one of the focal points of their campaign. MAGA was no longer about policy plans and it became “MAGA is Trump.” The assumption was the “MAGA is Trump” crowd would win the day all by themselves. The Democrats thought otherwise, and the elections showed they were right, MAGA by itself (especially if “MAGA is Trump” is the whole argument) will not win. The “MAGA is Trump” has begun to turn former Trump supporters away, not to mention the “moderates” who ultimately decide the winners.

So the danger becomes that as Trump loses support from sane people the whackos who think of DJT as a god-like figure begin to fill the void. Cole’s argument is those zanies need to have their voices squelched as anything official, they’ll bring about the death of the Republican Party. And yet Trump is not only not belittling them like he should, he’s welcoming them with open arms. They’re so nutty many of them would take a bullet for him, and that appeals to his insufferable narcissistic ego. He’s trying to give them power within the Party. In many respects they are becoming his base. He needs to be put out to pasture. Republicans need to revert back to policy arguments that would gain them prominence. Not RINO policies, MAGA policies and policies of similar vein.

So, okay, I’m stepping off the soapbox now.

You're watching a movie.

Trump is about to be installed by the military when the timing is right. They've covertly set an elaborate trap to catch all traitors to the country.

Executions have already started at Guantanamo.

Q derangement lmao

A perfect example of why this board here is the weakest piece of crap bunch of losers on the face of the planet. Piece of $hit like this guy just totally programmed by their TV is unreal, you get one president in modern-day history that tried to take on the deep state instead of capitulating to it and being their bitch and puppet - and the TV has everyone against him, so comical yet so sad
@Tulsaaggieson I don’t think I have made your point for you, as you have suggested, but I’m pretty sure our friend @Corndog2021 has made mine with this post.

That I don't doubt.

There will be no convincing me that the article is not an attempt to democrat light the republican party. The defense of marriage act is a good example of that rhino mentality still part of the party. Trump loyalists are not crazy cultists, and referring to them as such is an attempt to downplay thier very large significance in the party today. Thier concerns are valid, even if you or others don't think so. The left has crazy environmentalists and even though they take things too far they still have some valid concerns that should at the very least be acted upon. No one wants river's choked in oil, but shutting down the oil industry is not the solution either. The Trump MAGA and even the Q crowd have valid concerns. I think we all want to know who killed Epstien and why.

The point is they are not crazy cultists and you need them just as much as you need those moderate guys. The Republican party needs every vote, but from where I sit it's the Mit Romney supporters that are just as extreme and just as dangerous a crowd to cater to, mabey even more so. I'll take a Trump cultist over a McConnell any day and twice on Sunday. At least I know where they stand, I have to constantly watch my back with Mitch.
