At 100,000 foot view, this sounds very reasonable. But details matter. Does education for all mean free college for all? Grants for low-income? Work-study programs? What about food for all? This food stamps for the poor? Universal income? Same for safe, Affordable housing? This rent controls? Rent subsidies? Universal income again?
In the end, the details matter. I'm for programs that help people get off the government teet. I'm against programs that simply grow the teet.
Can you be a country of 350,000,000 people and not have a government teet?
taxesAll those socialism free everything proponents never seem to answer the question on how to pay for it.
taxes
taxes
Yeah I also wonder why George Bush didn't go into details on all the dead soldiers that would result from the wars he started. Then how come none of the candidates state in their campaigns that they want to raise taxes by 25% in order to pay for all these great things. A few say tax the rich, but I'm finding their definition of rich is basically anyone who works for a living.
Yeah I also wonder why George Bush didn't go into details on all the dead soldiers that would result from the wars he started.
The point being, when people are trying to build support for ideas they don't list the pros and cons, the list the pros only. It is the other side's job to list the cons. Taxes are a con.I must have missed George Bush campaigning on going to war. But when Congress voted to authorize his missions, I assume that the proposal they voted on included troop casualty projections. If it didn't what data did Congress vote on?
Dead soldiers are apples to new taxes lattes.Yeah I also wonder why George Bush didn't go into details on all the dead soldiers that would result from the wars he started.
